Well I just got my HD dvd player last night and its bigger than a fullsized pizza box. Blu ray requires much beefier equipment to play it so I can only imagine how huge and fucking ugly the PS3 will be.
Good thing however is games can support 1080p which is just happyness for my tv. Though I dont know if my tv can even support up to that lol.

The PS3's size is only eclipsed by its price.

And you need a Blu-Ray Player why?

I've seen some pictures of a black PS3. It still looks pretty sleek and stylish for being so huge. It had a reflective/glossy black exterior and well we all know the PS3 is pretty curvy looking.

We all know the PS3 mini version will eventually come out a few years from now. THEN it will be smaller and still look good.

I have a PS2 mini and it makes the PS2 original look like a big huge POS.

It seems Sony's first try on their consoles is always a huge one.

Like I said not even hours ago,

May 10 08:31:46 PDT <kode54> or print some money and get a PS3
May 10 08:31:57 PDT <kode54> otherwise known as the gateway drug to blu-ray

... oh damn, he still has me beat by 5 hours.

And probably by the time the PS3 comes out, the stand-alone players will be cheaper anyway. Or this is Sony's grand scheme to push Blu-ray into househoulds. And then you can throw it away when they sell you the PS4.

I don't need blu ray I could stick with HD DVD but I rather have the video format that most movie companies are supporting. Only WB movies are coming on HD Dvd for a long time at the moment.

HD-DVD blows, it is the inferior format (which means it will probably win)

I think that I will quit buying more consoles. I don't want to see how Microsoft monopolize the gaming industry. Sony commercial strategies sucks. the PS3 controllers won't vibrate anymore either.

Concerning HD-DVD vs Blu Ray, I'm betting Blu Ray will win they have alot more companies supporting them then HD-DVD. But it will be a very close race since HD-DVD has more support from the film industry and the mighty Microsoft.

you can make HD-DVD in current DVD plants.

you can't say the same for Blue-Ray.

On the surface rumble might not seem like much, but I can tell from experience that you'll really miss it when it's gone.

I remember one time when playing Rogue Squadron for the N64, the batteries of my Rumble pack had died, so I had to do without. I was pretty good at the game, but now I was suddenly dying all over the place like a newbie because of my delayed response to getting hit from behind or from the side, due to the absence of tactile feedback.

The generation after that, consoles didn't require batteries anymore so I didn't have that problem, but I can imagine how much I'd miss it in games like Metroid Prime or Rogue Leader.

Maybe others don't share my sentiments, but yeah.

The rumble is nessesary so the player knows when they are hit and all. It is not for masturbation.

It is the reason I don't own a wavebird. It's negligible in some games, but other games pretty much require fucking rumble. Perfect example for me? I refuse to play starfox 64 without a rumble pack. I refuse to play Metroid Games without a rumble pack. Rumble is now an intense part of gaming. Hell the metoid pinball game has rumble! Sony has no fucking excuse.

There is a good reason, but Sony's stated excuse is a farce. Sony and Microsoft were both sued and lost for their dual-motor force feedback. It apparently violated some patent. Rather than pay royalties or use only one motor, Sony opted to remove FF altogether. I believe the company that sued is "Digital Immersion".

I find it sad that there's two formats, and the one who loses is the consumer. if I spent money on a br or hd player, and a movie I want is out in the other format, then that's fucking gay as hell. dvd is still good enough for me, I'll let all the idiots fight over which format is better in the beginning like gay fan boys, and in a few years when the players are $30 and I can copy each disc for 50 cents, I'll buy one of each.

Did Sony ever make an announcement about the MSRP of the games for the PS3? If they didn't why do I have the most sick feeling that it's going to be $59.95 - $69.95?
