What version of zsnes are you using? I realized you put keyboard/joystick.
Instead of keyboard/gamepad.

Click Keyb/Gamepad/Joystick and THEN click "Set", THEN click "Set Keys"

There is no difference between PM and posting in the board. And you haven't even taken your time to respond to the questions:

What zsnes version are you using? Not just number, but if it's DOS, WIN or LINUX. What are your system specs and OS?

Make sure you are using zsnes WIN and not DOS. Delete zsnes' configuration files.

You did configure it again after deleting the configuration files?

I just got mine. I've got the same problem. I'm usuing the newest WIN version on Win XP and I've only got the Joystick/Keyboard option

- nothing which says Gamepad.

That's all you should see. Selecting Joystick/Keyboard uses DirectInput, meaning that it will detect any button or axis from a game controller, keyboard, or other HID-compliant device. Setting it to "NONE" emulates a disconnected controller.

-Click "Keyb/Joystick"
-Click "Set"
-Click "Set Keys"
-Follow on-screen prompts
