I just started experiencing these problems last night after installing GNOME 2.8.0, and I'm not sure what dependencies it pulled in that might have broken anything (glib, maybe? Does SDL use that?). Upon starting ZSNES, within a tenth of a second, X will crash and I'll be back to my GDM login screen. Previously, I had solved this problem on an older installation by recompiling libsdl, and then recompiling ZSNES against the new libsdl, but that route doesn't seem to be working this time. Any insights anyone could provide would be appreciated.
Distribution: Gentoo 2004.2
Relevant package versions:
X.org: 6.8.0-r1
nVidia binary drivers: 1.0.6111
ZSNES: 1.36 (CVS version causes mouse focus problems)
libsdl:
zlib: 1.2.1-r3
libpng: 1.2.7
GCC: 3.3.4
nasm: 0.98.38
I'm using the nVidia GLX with TwinView. I am not running a compositing manager such as xcompmgr with X.org. All other OpenGL applications work correctly.
Attempting to start zsnes from a console and pipe the output to a log produces nothing, there's no output at all. Maybe strace could be of some use? Would anyone be able to walk me through using it to find my problem?
