Overscan only exists because of broadcast television. Some channels have garbage on the sides of the image(because of the analog signal), so TV manufacturers compensate for that with overscan. With digital sources like digital cable and satellite, there is no need for overscan. Most game consoles don't need it either if you connect using composite/svideo/etc (basically anything other than the RF adapter).cdbsi wrote:I disagree. It is not necessarily a bad thing. As a lot of stuff that is made for tv is made with overscan in mind.Reznor007 wrote:The "power" of overscan? It's a bad thing really.
zsnes stretch full screen

Re: I've seen your screen shots
Then the image is stretched too wide... so there must be a border at the sides too.Reznor007 wrote:That's what Darkfalz's code did basically. It makes the games look too fat(wide).Mark7 wrote:Well, the picture size will differ on each tv. Each tv will have a slighty different visible screen.
Anyway, I'm sure that Zsnes shouldn't resize from 224 to 480, but from 224 to 448. That way each snes line will match a line on your tv and the picture will be a lot sharper than a 224 to 480 resize.
If you then use tv-out at 640*480 with overscan, i think it should be fairly close to the original...

Life would have been a lot easier if there was a 256*224 (or 512*448) tv-out resolution

If you got an Nvidia card your problems would be solved. Get a cheap $10 TNT or something.
Or you could get a TV that lets you adjust the overscan.

I used to own a TNT1 with TV Out. And I have seen them for sale for $10-$20. For $30 you can probably get a Geforce1 or something.kevman wrote:But a cheap $10 TNT doesn't have video out, unless the new ones do. Mine has nothing more than VGA. You'd probably have to spend at least $40 for a card new enough to have TV out. Unless you do Ebay...
Esturk: Your CPU is more important than your graphics card for running ZSNES. I'd imagine with a good CPU, you could get away with almost any POS graphics card.

True.. the only thing I can say for sure is I never had a problem back when I did have a TNT1 with TV out. I had a Diamond Viper 550 or 770 if I remember correctly.
