System Requirements
What are the minimum system requirements for the DOS version of ZSNES?
I'm going to try to run it on a 12 year old laptop with ~75 mHz, 20 megs of RAM, DOS 6.22. Anyone know if it'll work?
I'm not sure what graphics card it has... I'll try to find it after installing an operating system on it.

Are we talking a 75 MHz 486 or pentium? The pentium will probably run the DOS version ok at a low resolution in 16-bit color without any graphic or sound filters. I'm not talking a ful 60fps, more like 15-30. A 486 is a little more rough. Probably like 5-10 fps in 8-bit color without sound.
As for the memory, don't expect to be able to run Star Ocean or Tales of Phantasia. I think the requirement for the 48mbit ROMs require 24 MB RAM.

Make sure you're using a VESA 2 320x240 mode, they're the fastest.
Don't forge Scitech Display Doctor.
Use the super optimized DOS WIP ipher put out a few months back.
Fool around with the sound options to see which Hz is best for you. You probably will want mono though.
16MB RAM should be enough unless you try one of the memory eating special chip games. Also make sure you're not running anything crazy in the background at the time like Windows.

Hey all, thanks for all the info.
A little update:
Turns out the machine is a 50mHz 486 running on the weirdest looking 16mb ram chip i've ever seen. This alone probably kills any chance of running zsnes, but just to top it off, the bios can't detect the hard drive and i'm running dos off a floppy.
So yeah... this laptop's going to be taped to my dorm door and used as a message board. I was kinda hoping to load it up with a few of my favorite SNES games for any passerbyers, but I guess my dream of enlightening the world to old school gaming will not come ot pass...

ZSNES runs on a 4x86 with 16MB, but don't expect steller results.

The ZSNES builds closer to 1.0 were generally faster than the current builds, with less functionality overall. If the ricer build of the WIP doesn't help you, you can always try some older versions. Won't give you results as good, but it's better than nothing.
