Feature Suggestion: Netplay Toggled 1st Player Controller

Post by FistOfFury »

How about.........a hotkey that when pressed switches which player is controlling the 1st player. A GUI text notification would be displayed on screen to let the other player know that control is being switched, and to prevent possible cheating:

1: "Why did I miss that jump? Did you just press back??"
2: "Nope"
1: "Liar!"
2: "heehee"

It would be convenient, especially for netplay. I'm seeing 1 player games being played more on zbattle. The controller checkboxes just wastes time to have to check it everytime someone dies or it's their turn or whatever, and it's annoying

Why not configure PL3/4 as PL1/2 and have PL3 configuration be "player 2" controller?

The OP should specifically mention Netplay somewhere in the post...

By "OP", did you mean "original poster" or "option"? I've never used netplay, so are you saying that this doesn't work in netplay?

If you meant original poster, he did. But maybe then my suggestion doesn't work.

You mean PL4 as Player 2, PL3 is for Player 1 with this option (I thought it was going to be made to work in netplay? what happened?) MY idea only allows 1 person at a time to be in control of the 1st player via the toggle, and it works in netplay , this was my original idea that I submitted back before the PL3/4 as 1/2 feature was put into ZSNES. I don't like the PL3/4 as 1/2 because I don't want people touchin my controls during my turn and messin me up lol (yes there are evil people out there that will do this!), and of course it doesn't work in netplay. If no one will consider my idea, can you at least try to make PL3/4 as 1/2 to work in netplay? I would rather have my idea if its possible though (is it?), but one of the two is better then nothing........

I wasn't aware it didn't work in netplay. Sorry.

There has to be a way for this to be enabled.

And every time you press the button, pad is transferred ? Sorry but I don't think it's a good thing at all.
If player 2 suddenly switches with player one without warning beforehand, this will ruin some games. (Tetris Attack, Super Bomberman *, ...)
Do you want any loser out there to have control on your input ?

Just press ESC, then change boxes. Is that SO hard ? That way, no mean tricks are possible.

Can you made a keyboard's shortcut in netplay to switch between player 1 and player2 during the game?

It's not to cheat but to play with 2 players at one player's games without use ESC

Imagine if you play at "yoshi's island" and you change the controller at each life / stage...
It's not convenient to press esc each time you lose a life or win a level

With a shortcut, it would be better

To avoid cheat or joke :
- In the chat window, we could check an option "allow to change order players" (default : unchecked)

Thank you

ps : excuse me for my english, english is not my native language

Yeah, you got 'french' written all over. Meh.

Even with that additionnal checkbox, that won't prevent player 1/2 to mess with input at a critical moment. Come on, pressing ESC is easy, fast (it takes a whole 2 seconds, omg) and perfect for a small break between levels/lives to drink some beer or whatever.

People are so fucking lazy. :D
whicker: franpa is grammatically correct, and he still gets ripped on?
sweener2001: Grammatically correct this one time? sure. every other time? no. does that give him a right? not really.

Yes and people judge other without knowing them...

I'm not lazy but it's not convenient to do esc for each level / life and I think it should not difficult to make a simple keyboard's shortcut
Even with that additionnal checkbox, that won't prevent player 1/2 to mess with input at a critical moment.
It will not be a problem
Player will check the checkbox only if he faiths in the second player and they could unchecked anytime the checkbox if there is a mess

Thank you

I'm gonna cite the great classic for this one:

:!: ZSNES.com does not recommend the consumption of beer when playing "Touch Fuzzy, Get Dizzy" in Yoshi's Island. :!:

I don't understand the half of your quote
But I think there is a mistake
I know developping is not easy but we don't talk about a big feature but a small feature, a keyboard's shortcut, so I said it should not difficult to do that ...
But if it's too hard, I'm apologise
