I'd really like to take advantage of the more recent versions of zsnes, but the most advanced version I can run is 1.30b; anything below that is fine, anything above is NOT. Upon trying to run a newer release, I get a nice generic "Windows has encountered an error and must close this program" popup. And YES I've gone into the .cfg and manually set it to full-screen. This happens irregardless of whether or not the cfg is set to window or full.
I posted about this some time ago and was never able to get an answer other than, "Go back to the most recent version you can run." Which.. gets me some emulation, sure, but it's still kind of aggravating.
What changed between 1.30b and 1.31?
Difference between 1.30b and 1.31 and up?

Config: Uh, no. This happens on clean installs/unpacks, and no amount of deleting .cfg changes anything.
whastnew quote: The trick is that, a lot of times, not every last thing that goes into a release change actually makes it onto the list. I dunno, maybe the zsnes guys are way better about that than the other 90% of software developers. But experience tells me that often any troubles I have between versions are weird little tweaks that no one felt the need to mention initially. ;P
If that really IS the sum of it, then I'll go back to poking at me system and putzing with it on my own, no worries. Just thought I'd see if there were any significant engine changes.

Poobah, at this point comparing the code that existed 4+ years ago to now is... relatively unrealistic.
On the other hand, it doesn't sound like you have tried any of my suggestions (seriously, it does sound more like your system needs a fresh reinstall than anything). You have yet to report what driver version you are using, or what driver version previously worked for you w/ZSNES.
Suggestion: Revert to the older video drivers. Sometimes newer drivers simply aren't better.nunix from older thread wrote:The only thing that's changed on this box in recent months are the video drivers; running an old 4200ti on XP Professional with the newest drivers. But this also happened with the last full release drivers. And the ones before that; I've dug into past archives and Restore Points to try and figure out exactly when this started happening (I hadn't touched zsnes in months and got that good-game desire going again recently). No luck.

At this point though, it might make sense to run a debug build in GDB to see which line of code is screwing up.
