Pixelated Graphics? Please help.

Post by Dr.Dark »

Was wondering if there is anyway to get the graphics to be a lot more smoother and not so pixelated? They come out like they have aliasing problems.

I have it set to 640X480 DS Window mode.
I don't have any other boxes checked. I'm not sure what they do... I read the FAQ but I still don't understand it.

So is there a way to have it look all super good? Kinda like how good it would look if I was playing on a SNES with a TV.

Thanks.

Try out a filter if you don't want pixelation. The reason why they appear pixelated is because the image is stretched (as required to use it with the resolution you've selected).

To make it look like a TV, you could try scanlines, or use the NTSC filter if you're using a WIP from http://zsnes.ipherswipsite.com

Thanks, I figured it out! Didn't know it was that simple.
Another thing, are slow downs normal? Or is there a way to get rid of that.

The slowdowns are normal if you don't have a fast comp. Please list your system specs if you want to know. Also, note what filter and game you are using as well. Some games demand less resources than others.

Slowdowns? It depends on the game, the hardware and the software. Start giving us your system specs, driver specs, what game (With it's rom info).

And exactly HOW does it slow down.

Remember that filters are more hardware heavy. What filter are you using?

Well, the slowdowns happen on almost any game(whether or not filters are on/off). (It happens on my NES emu too). It mostly happens when theres a lot on screen/explosions. It's not too frequent doesn't happen all the time, but it's there.

My PC's specs are:
Win XP
AMD athlon 64 X2 4400+
2 GB ram
GeForce 7900 GTX 512MB

Could the dual core be causing problems? I know they have there share of problems with games.

Probably. You need to install patches/updates related to dual core and XP.

You could also try setting the affinity of ZSNES to one processor... I think.

Haven't seen any dual-core issues with ZSNES on my girlfriend's opteron 165 w/ the AMD Dual-Core Optimizer driver installed.

What are these "WIP's?"

Very new to emulation... are these some sort of updates to ZSNES?

I don't know why you bumped up a really old thread.

WIP = Work In Progress

These are just unofficial builds that show current progress. However, the current state of ZSNES doesn't allow for it, so there hasn't be any new WIP builds lately.

Locked thread due to unnecessary thread necromancy.
