I might get an xbox 360 some time
I'm seeing trailers for this game called bioshock, it looks fucking awesome. recent reviews show the ps3 is pretty much a 360 with a blu-ray drive. I have a nice high def tv, I'd like to get the most out of it. it seems 360 does 720p, while ps3 can do 1080? any awesome games for he xbox? I like racing games, I want the most realistic shit available.

It's because developers have yet to tap all the power of the PS3, but it certainly is the most powerfull of the three.phOnYmIkE wrote:...recent reviews show the ps3 is pretty much a 360 with a blu-ray drive...
Altough after seeing some examples *cough*Ridge Racer*cough*, one may think otherwise

NFSC is for the PS2. It doesn't take a lot of computer power to run at max detail, he's probably better off playing it on his PC. My video card is a Radeon X800 XT which is 2 years old and I run it with max settings with all filters and vsync on at pretty much the same speed as the default settings. 1GB RAM btw with the CPU at 2.1GHz.lockharte wrote:need for speed carbonphOnYmIkE wrote: I like racing games, I want the most realistic shit available.
On the topic of NFSC, do the console versions have EAX effects like the PC version does? Or do they not support it?
Bioshock is coming out for PC, and looking better than the 360 version too.
That said, there's some 360 exclusives that look pretty good. For example, I just have to try Dead Rising one day (I don't give a flying fuck about Halo, however). But I can't afford two new consoles right now.
And yeah....seen those comparison videos of multiplatform games between PS3 and 360? Apparently, Fight Night looked better on the 360. And Marvel Ultimate Alliance looks about the same on both consoles, but chugs at 30 fps with occasional slowdown on the PS3, while the 360 version runs buttery smooth (funny thing being that the Wii version of that game, while not looking as shiny, also rolls along at a constant 60 fps).

I was reading up, I found several 'interviews' where a programmer talks about deving on the ps3 and 360. they said that they port 360 games to the ps3 if they aren't exclusive. I get the feeling that sony is gonna be stepping out of the console market. based on everything I read, it seems the 360 can do the same shit as the ps3, and it's also half the price.

The Cell processor is neat technically, but to take full advantage of it would require a programming language that probably does not exist yet.
On the other hand, there's the tried and true argument: the majority of game programmers are familiar with PC's so the more PC-like in the programming model it is, the easier the development.
Then again, some tireless genius may slave away and produce something spectacular that can only run on the PS3. I'm not holding my breath until then, though.

I think that's one of the main problems of the PS3. Most of the games are comparisons, usually made first for the XBox 360 and THEN ported to the PS3.phOnYmIkE wrote:I was reading up, I found several 'interviews' where a programmer talks about deving on the ps3 and 360. they said that they port 360 games to the ps3 if they aren't exclusive. It doesn't take a genius to see what MIGHT be the issue. I've yet to see an exclusive game for the PS3.

Precisely. But near the end of a console's life there usually are some spectacular games which push the console to it's absolute limits. Think of FF9 for the PS1, that squeezed every bit of power out of it. I wouldn't be surprised if the PS3's true power is not put to use until it's last few days.whicker wrote:The Cell processor is neat technically, but to take full advantage of it would require a programming language that probably does not exist yet.

As for now the overall best pick seems to be the X360. Later on though there will be a large amount of console specific games.
When I think of new generation consoles I focus more on what games will be exclusive to specific consoles. Three series which catch my attention are the Zelda, Final Fantasy and Soul Calibur series. And as it stands 2 of those 3 will be exclusive to the PS3 which sucks for my wallet.
So to phonymike I say... go with whichever one has the games which you most want.

Dunno about Heavenly Sword, but I sincetely don't like the MG series since MG2.snkcube wrote:MGS4 and Heavenly Sword? Ninja Gaiden Sigma and Gran Turismo 5?Corronchilejano wrote:I've yet to see an exclusive game for the PS3.
I have yet to see Ninja Gaiden Sigma, isn't it too for the 360?

I'll buy the PS3 when FFXIII gets released! But before that a bought Tales of Symphonia so because I also have Wind Waker and I don't have a GC....Well I'm tempted to use part of my savings on a Wii. Must people are that I know wll either have the combination of Wii+360 or Wii + PS3 so It won't be a surprise to me that the Wii sell more units than PS3 and 360 combined. Oh and maybe I'll get a used 360 to play Trusty Bell, Infinite Undiscovery and Eden Zyria.
Yes I know that my grammar sucks!

Ninja Gaiden Sigma is exclusively for the PS3 from what I last heard. Check out Heavenly Sword, it might interest you.Corronchilejano wrote:Dunno about Heavenly Sword, but I sincetely don't like the MG series since MG2.snkcube wrote:MGS4 and Heavenly Sword? GT looks nice.
YET it was ported to the wii without any major frame rate loss.Corronchilejano wrote:I think that's one of the main problems of the PS3. I know Ferrari's are available in Gran Turismo HD, but who knows if it'll end up in GT5. As for the other two cars mentioned, I'm not so sure.lockharte wrote:are european luxuries like ferrari, lamborghini, porsche in GT 5?snkcube wrote:MGS4 and Heavenly Sword? NFSC has a pretty good lineup of exotics. but one car they don't have is the ferrari. seriously no racing game is complete without a ferrari, a lamborghini, a corvette, and a porsche.snkcube wrote:I know Ferrari's are available in Gran Turismo HD, but who knows if it'll end up in GT5.
