There´s a difference. Most black people DON´T like being called afro-american or african-american. I mean, it´s stupid. Do you have white skin? Than can I call you Ku-klux-clan-american? I know you're not in the Ku-Klux-clan, but he hasn´t been in africa either.

The same thing with the Germans, but only on their side. They THINK people still think of them as Nazis, that´s why they do all that stupid "OMG WII DIDN SPRT TEH WOR!!!111", and try to deny it by just denying everything that resembles it. I think it´s pretty dumb, because of the modern countries, Germany is one of the least violent (heck, they don´t send as much people in overseas wars as any other country!).

I think they're convulsing on their own damn paranoia. Maybe this will make the cut and become a law or something, if it does, we'll have our very own paranoid country in real life

I still don't get why I shouldn't talk to a German about WW2 if it has nothing to do with the individual I'm speaking with. And no black people I've talked to has ever reacted when someone said afro-american in their presence. Making a difference in what you talk to people about based on nothing but race, nationality, handicap, sexuality, etc. is IMO racist bullshit.

And also, African-american is a stupid expression. No-one refers to a white american as a European-american.

It could be compared to the grandpa of a white kid getting known to be a KKK member. Do you think that kid wouldn't have second thoughts about going to a "black" part of town? If you were japanese, would you readily go to Korea? This is not about deductable logic, it's about the human mind.

(The whole situation is completely fucked up anyway. The way the government is going, we'll be doing anti-nazi movies in 3072 AD, too. And there's no way to turn around.)

But are you really? Sure, there are a lot of jokes about Germans and nazism but I don't think I've met anyone who really thinks all Germans are nazis or that less people in Germany thinks the holocaust was horrible.
People are people and not nationalities, so nationality (or race etc.) of individuals in the room shouldn't matter when I choose a subject of conversation. Someones personal experiences and feelings, of course, but not a thing like what race they are. And I really didn't think it did matter until yestarday.
Yes, I do talk to real people, I went to a boarding school (I wasn't a boarding student, though) with people from all around the world and I never managed to upset anyone by mentioning WW2 or Vietnam or Sionism.

In fact, if you DO chose your subject of conversation based on evading talking about messed up stuff that relates to history of the nation or race of the people in the room, YOU are reating them differently because of something their ancestors/government/whatever, did in the past, witch first of all proves you are quite squareminde, second, that you don't ever concider WHY you have those opinions, its just something you were taught, and it shouldn't be questioned, and third, it is just plain horrible and disrespectful to the people in the room.

It doesn't matter if I SHOULD talk to some person about slavery, or the Halocaust, but it matters if I CAN. I feel I have the right to talk about it and publish papers about it, if I want to. Why can't I? If we outlaw everything that might somehow offend someone in some way, then we outlaw communication.

I'm free to hang a conferdate flag out my window. Maybe its not a good idea, but the government really has no place to tell me not to. To outlaw it is called government censorship, and it leads to bad things, like government control, a loss of secularism, propganda wars, and, worse of all, ignorance. If I can't question the existance of the Halocaust, then I can't learn from it. I can't increase my knowledge of it over the person next to me.

You know what they call times when you can't question things, when you are told to take everything for granted? They are called Dark Ages. Ever heard of them?

Its not a whole lot better than the fact that 90% of China's population doesn't know about Tiananmen Square, or that Pearl Harbor is conviently missing from Japanese schoolbooks. Its history, not a taboo about someone's love affiar.

Video games can teach you how to be a villain, they can teach you to be a better villain, but they can't make you a villain. That choice is, and always has been, and I hope to dear God always will be one's own.

Freedom of speech is not about protecting how comfortable I am about the material. In fact, gratuitously violent video games disquiet me very much. Freedom of speech is about protecting me from the government. And the government is getting to be a bit creepy in this case.

I'm glad the that in the U.S., this is generally dismissed now, but with that clown Jack Thompson getting attention from key legislators... who happen to consist more of important Democrats than important Republicans... who will be getting key leadership roles in Congress come January... ugh. Let's just say that it could well be FF6 adapted to a republic, if you stretch it. And blow things out of proportion.
