By that logic, most of our stickies are failures, then.Deathlike2 wrote:Sometimes I think it was a failure to have this thread: http://board.zsnes.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=9120

I've already read that. I didn't ask for a X360 port, I asked if you have any plans for one.Deathlike2 wrote:Sometimes I think it was a failure to have this thread: http://board.zsnes.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=9120

That is effectively the same question. The answer is simply this. Does the XBOX360 use an x86 processor?Spectro wrote:I've already read that. NO
I've edited that post just for your sake. I'm sure they still won't read it anyways.
Also, this does not give you any reason to ask for/about a XBOX360 port.

I understand that you may get questions from hundreds of people, and you may be getting annoyed, but I'm trying to be polite as possible. I've read through all the rules threads and all that garbage. I also don't type like an infant smashing a keyboard. The least you could do is show me the same respect I show you.
I honestly don't even know what an x86 processor is, but I am able to play games like Mortal Kombat 3, and such on the Xbox Live Arcade. I guess I'm not sure how that is any different?

To keep it simple. Every PC and Intel Mac has an x86 processor. This also includes the XBOX. Since ZSNES was written back in the day where there were slow PCs, it was written primarily in x86 ASM (assembly) for speed reasons. ASM is not portable since you are writing to the specific architecture. The XBOX360 does not use an x86 processor, hence it is impossible to port ZSNES to such a system. Unless the ASM is ported to a portable language such as C or C++, it will simply not work. Understood?Spectro wrote:I understand that you may get questions from hundreds of people, and you may be getting annoyed, but I'm trying to be polite as possible. x86 is a processor architecture, with different functions than the XBOX 360 architecture, which is PowerPC. Since ZSNES has code written specifically for x86 processors (i.e. Intel and AMD), a port for the XBOX 360, older Macs (before they switched to Intell processors), and anything that uses a PowerPC processor (or any processor other than one with an x86 architecture) is not possible at this time, and might not for a very long time, if ever.Spectro wrote:I understand that you may get questions from hundreds of people, and you may be getting annoyed, but I'm trying to be polite as possible. ZSNES cannot be simply "ported" to a portable language such as C. Instead, it would have to be completely re-written.Spectro wrote:I understand. I appreciate your explanation. Well, I hope someone will someday do what you said, port it to a different language, so I may enjoy my favorite emulator and games on my new Xbox 360.
edit: Well, hopefully it will be possible in the future rather than never
At that point, it would no longer be ZSNES. It would be a new emulator. There's no reason for the ZSNES team to begin an entirely new emulator when there are very port-friendly emulators already (snes9x).
Need a new sig...
Okay, so my dad's just modded my x-box and it has a bunch of emulators on it, the coolest being zsnexbox. However, I don't know how to put roms on it. I put the roms on the cd and put it in the drive but it just won't won't. So what I am asking is how do I play my Snes roms on zsnexbox? Thanks in adance!
