Sony exec: nobody will ever tap full power of PS3
http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20061219-8455.html
So, why did Sony put so much power into the PS3 then?

Move along, this thread isn't going to spark any meaningfuly debate or commentary,
Option 1: Sony sucks, this guy is a dick
Option 2: It won't reach its full potential because it's a bitch to program for 8 fucking cores
Option 3: What sort of self respecting application uses 100% of ANY platform's resources
End of conversation, I've just saved you all MINUTES.

option 4: ps3 is the ultimate system ever created and is greater than the entire human race. I only say this cause I dumped $600 on this shit and don't even have a high def tv.

At least as far as press releases are concerned.

I'm pretty sure that's sarcasm so:Gil_Hamilton wrote:Say what you will about Sony, but no one, and I mean NO ONE, can match them for entertainment value.

the ps3 has the same games as 360. slap in the hd-dvd add on to the 360 and you have a high def video player. however the 360 has done this for the past year, so sony loses. my money is on the 360 baby!
even with less than a quarter of the power of the ps3, the wii has still doubled the sales.
over twice the sales at 1/2 the price - strap recall = more profit than sony haha

Don't forget the $24 million exploding battery recall, class action lawsuits for their rootkit DRM, supply shortages and bad press all around. I wonder how many sixaxis controllers will explode in people's hands because of defective batteries.phOnYmIkE wrote:I'm pretty sure that's sarcasm so:Gil_Hamilton wrote:Say what you will about Sony, but no one, and I mean NO ONE, can match them for entertainment value.

There are like two actual instances of them going critical - and hundreds of Wiimotes thrown through TV's and shit - so the straps have caused far more damage than the batteries.AntoineWG wrote:Don't forget the $24 million exploding battery recall, class action lawsuits for their rootkit DRM, supply shortages and bad press all around. I should be in fucking PR.

Nintendo designed this product for *everyone* to use and to get enthusiastic and involved with. They fully expected people to get into it and do all sorts of crazy motions - look at their own fucking PR video:Lizking wrote:yea, but nintendo doesnt have to pay to replace the TVs, or the Wiimotes. it's the dumbass user's who did that, not their flawed design.

There are people bouncing all over the fucking place with this thing.
The straps are breaking. The straps are poorly designed. Period.
Getting back on topic, if nobody will ever fully use the power of the PS3, then is it the last console sony will produce? How much do you want to bet they already have the PS4 in development and within a year they'll be announcing a prototype like they did after the PS2?

the straps shouldn't even be needed, just don't let go of the remote in the first placecasualsax3 wrote:Nintendo designed this product for *everyone* to use and to get enthusiastic and involved with. Unfortunately, that won't work. Lawsuits like with hot coffee and people burning themselves make for a lost cause on Nintendo's side. Seriously, society at this point is a failure for stuff like this.darkbenny wrote:the straps shouldn't even be needed, just don't let go of the remote in the first placecasualsax3 wrote:Nintendo designed this product for *everyone* to use and to get enthusiastic and involved with. I hate to derail this, but although I haven't read the Wii owners manual, I'll bet the only $30 that I have to my name that there's something to the effect of "we aren't responsible if you break something because you weren't able to hold onto the remote." in there.casualsax3 wrote:Nintendo designed this product for *everyone* to use and to get enthusiastic and involved with. Back on topic, this should give you all an idea of how powerful the PS3 is:
