Netplay is now slow, when it worked fine for months.

Want to play with a friend over the net? Find out all the info you need on how to configure your PC, network and of course ZSNES. Also the correct place to find people to play with and what software they use.

Netplay is now slow, when it worked fine for months.

1. Read the ZSNES documentation.
done

2. Read the Having trouble with netplay? READ THIS! sticky. Make sure your budd(ies) read it also, provided one (or both) of you are using a firewall and/or a router..
done

3. Post the OS/specs of you and your budd(y|ies) computers.
ME:
windows xp pro
2 Ghz
512 ram

Her:
windows xp pro
1.6 Ghz
504 ram (dont ask me how... thats what her properties say)

4. Be sure you and your friend use the same version. (1.36 works best atm, or try 1.42n (based off 2/12/2k5 WIP with netplay))
were both using 1.42n

5. Be sure to provide Internet Connections. (This includes Router and/or a firewall if you and/or your budd(y|ies) are using one)
Me: DSL zone lab firewall.
Her: dial up mcafee firewall. Both firewalls have zsnes ready for netplay

6. Search this forum by clicking the search link at the top of the board.
done

7. Check your problem on the BugZilla Bug Tracker.
Bugzilla isnt working for me

8. If this is about a ROM, provide relevant NSRT information in your thread.
all roms are doing this.

9. If you want to make a request to netplay with someone, make it in here.
not really.

10. If this is about zConnector, ZBattle, Z-net, or (other ZSNES netplay tool here), read this.
nope

OK this is the issue:
We have been playing netplay for months now, and we never had any serious issues.
Starting a few days ago, the net play has been really slow, almost as we where playing at like 3 fps.
I went through all the netplay stickies and none of it seemed to adress the problem, we are able to connect and we are even able to send save states, however every game we try is slow. We tried using tcp/ip and it's the same, we tried disabling buffer and its the same and i switched through all numbers of latency and it works fine for a few seconds, then slows down again.
So any help? like i said, it worked fine then it just started.

Make sure to stop stuff like bittorrent (stuff that takes up bandwidth). On the other hand, you both could probably use a reboot.

Well i always stop all my net activities when we are on netplay, and so does she. And i turn my computer off every night, and she has rebooted her computer a few times while trying to make it work.

EDIT:
So what is the issue with me having dyslexia? im sure insted of editing my post and making me look like a moron, you should have pointed out the wrong name and i should have apologised.
I'm sorry i hadn't notice the name was wrong, but like i said i suffer from a mild dyslexia problem.

It's an automatic board filter.

I think we found the problem right there. Dialup is generally less than desirable for online gaming.

What dialup provider is she using? Does she always use the same number? Does she connect at the same speed she always has? What kind of throughput is she actually getting?
