Just something that isnt craptastic in funtionality.
Something that has a gui, a rom selection browser and options for filters and controls. Also forgot netplay.

All MAMEs have a GUI.
May 9 2007 - NSRT 3.4, now with lots of hashing and even more accurate information! Go download it.

I use a separate frontend. Me and MAME32 variants have never gotten along.

Incorrect, that has a GUI, they all do.Firon wrote:Not the normal MAME. It's pure command-line.
It has the exact same GUI normal MAME has. The difference here being it also has a ROM loading frontend.Firon wrote: MAME32 has a GUI though, and I think it works well enough.

So you consider something which you can only use to load the game not while in game to be a GUI and not a frontend?Firon wrote:I guess I consider the frontend to be the "GUI" in this case.

Honestly, I never saw what was wrong with kaillera besides some bugs and general deadness. That and the whole server bit.Agozer wrote:MAME32Plus!, which I personally use. Doesn't have netplay though. MAME32K does have netplay, but it uses Kaillera and I don't know when was the last time it was updated.

To hell with it.
MAME32ppk might be an option for some people: http://ddememame.hp.infoseek.co.jp/ (scroll all the way down to get it).
Make sure to get the MAME folders and Kaillera dll here as well.

regardless of if it was, Mame just got a SIGNIFICANT sound upgrade last night so you might want to check the latest version. only mame proper has been updated but usually it only takes a day or so for the mame32 builds to pop up.

You can synchronize to monitor refresh in MAME Plus too, you know.Neo Kaiser wrote:MAME Plus still support decrypted ROM sets and all. The only thing I like about Mame FX is that you can synchronize to the monitor refresh and the font is prettier than MAME Plus who looks like crap.
You are right about the font thing.

What complete romset?SquareHead wrote:Hm. All this talk about MAME makes me want to dig out my complete romset and have a go at some old games again.
A) MAME changes what it uses every few versions, don't expect everything to continue to work.
B) It's not complete because MAME isn't complete, and stuff still comes out.
