The punishment of Wisdom Teeth.
So, after a week of pain, at last I got my THREE wisdom teeth out.
Now, fellow forumers, the question his: How am I going to punish these damn teeth from causing pain to yours truly?
Give me ideas here, right now I have: Drop them in a glass of Coca-Cola. Smash them with a hammer, BURN THEM.
I have 2 complete teeth and one broken (They needed to break it in order for it to remove it)
So? What should I do?
We an also use this thread to discuss the pain of wisdom teeth.

My top two never came. My bottom two still bother me to this day. They came in my late teens and have bothered me for about 10 years. THey are too big to come up fully. So they come far enough to burst the gums and then every once in a while make my mouth a bit sore. I hate dentists so I'll never go to get them out unless I am in some serious pain or trouble.
Edit: I say burn them, it would be fitting to do so with sugar. I'd say a 1 part sugar, two parts potassium nitrate would be effective. I could be a bit wrong though.

Burning would be cool.
If you want to dissolve one, do it in Sprite or something clear so you can see. I imagine it'd still work.
I have 4 wisdom teeth, and no problems with them at all. So they'll stay.
Pain to keep clean, they are.

Jello's got almost no nutritional value, though.Firon wrote:I had all 4 of mine removed at once. Took the pain pill they gave me for one day and I was pretty much good after that. Eat soft food (jello is good) and eat it very carefully.
I've heard Carnation Instant Breakfast is a good choice. It's food in a drink!
I had 3 wisdom teeth.
I think all 3 had to be quartered for removal. I didn't get my teeth back at the end of it, and didn't want them. I didn't move much for the next week(I bled a lot, apparently).

I still have to look forward to the process, prolly in a few months, I wouldn't need to except my gum made a nice little alcove over my one wisdom tooth and food got stuck there and rotted it to hell.
hmm, what to do to them. Find someone you really hate and put it in their food. Mmmm crunchy.

Just wait till several years from now..Agozer wrote:Like kevman, I have 4 wisdom teeth and they haven't given me any problems. I'm one of the lucky ones I guess.

Yeah, I still have all of mine, and they don't hurt at all.
<Nach> so why don't the two of you get your own room and leave us alone with this stupidity of yours?

So I just went to the dentist yesterday and he told me to get my wisdom teeth out, not because they need to be taken out, but because, and I quote "everyone has problems with wisdom teeth," although three of my teeth have come in straight (the fourth one may be growing in crooked, so I might get it removed). He actually told me that everyone's wisdom teeth will hurt them during their lives and they should always be removed. He proceeded to condescend to me like nobody's business, and I very nearly punched him in the face.
I'm supposed to believe that I need to spend 1200 bucks or so (not factoring in insurance, of course) to get four teeth removed, three of which fit in my jaw and aren't giving me any problems? Bullshit. Since when is wisdom tooth extraction a recommended procedure, especially considering the potential for damaging the nerve? Sure, I know that's a small chance, but I won't risk it unless I have to. Fuck that guy and his bullshit.
Just in case, I'm getting a consultation from an oral surgeon who's actually qualified to tell me what to do about this, as opposed to some fool with an X-ray machine.

Did he just see your teeth and say "TIME TO EXTRACTION!" or something? That would be something really stupid. My wisdom teeth needed to be extracted because they didn't fit in my jaw (upper left and right) and the other was growing crooked (lower left).
But before that I had to go to an orthodontist who made an evaluation (I'm going to use braces), send me to an X-Ray lab to take som pictures of my jaw, then evaluate them. After evaluating them I was told to go to a maxilofacial surgeon.
I took the X-Rays with me to the surgeon and he agreed in the extraction. In less than 40 minutes he was done.
The only weird feeling I have now is the lower one, which I had to get stitches for it.
But seriously, you need to get evaluated, at least some X-Rays.
By the way, I was only charged about 540 dlls for all 3, and the checkups.

yeah, some older methods are still seen as normal to some medical personnel. For example, "ALWAYS get your wisdom teeth out" or "Always get your tonsils removed" or "If you get an ingrown toenail just get the toenail matrix killed so it doesn't grow toenail in that spot anymore" I say no freaking way, stuff is their for a reason, I mean they might as well just remove your appendix, spleen, and on kidney, since they aren't "Essential" body parts.
That's just a load of crap. I agree with you, keep your teeth unless they are really a problem.
There was a time in the 50s where some dentists thought that all teeth caused problems, when my grandma was in her late teens or early 20s her dentist pulled ALL her teeth, so she wouldn't have to worry about them causing her problems later in life
she had dentures her entire adult life, how screwed up is that, that dude was a psycho, he flipping screwed her over.

Remember guys, the dentist is out to make money just like everybody else.
Second, they are YOUR teeth. Ultimately, YOU are responsible for whether or not they get removed. You don't have to remove your teeth just because somebody said you do. Evaluate the evidence for yourself and make an informed decisions. Look at your own x-rays with the dentist. Ask a bunch of questions. Evaluate how much of a problem they are now. Then make an informed decision.
It doesn't sound like a good idea to me to just remove teeth that aren't causing any problems. You can't predict the future and neither can the dentist.

Most of the time those teeth only cause trouble. Incredible pain or misaligned teeth is all you can get. People actually don't remove them most of the time because the process is too... um... uncomfortable.Nightcrawler wrote:It doesn't sound like a good idea to me to just remove teeth that aren't causing any problems. I had my bottom ones removed. The top ones seem to not put up any trouble.

Just imagine if you applied that same principle to every part on your body that COULD cause trouble...

Going to some bullshit dentist sounds like a big fuckin waste of money, when i just brush my teeth every day and pulled out my own teeth when I was 10 for free.
! And it's good knowing my parents didn't have to fork over big bucks just because some greedy ass dentist wants to pluck teeth for money! (No offense to all you dentists out there I bet some of you actually do your job honestly)
