This one should not be very to find as I believe it was pretty well known at the time, but I'll be damn if I can find it.
It's basically a Chess-like game. Well. basically it looked and played like Chess but with one major difference: The game would go into a one-on-one real time "battle mode" where in Chess you would simply "capture" the piece, favoring both traditional Chess-like strategy and Shmups-like skills.
Of course, different pieces had different values, so even a skilled player could hardly win a "pawn" vs "queen" equivalent matchup.
The game probably was release during the early-mid eighties...Any ideas?

I was wrong concerning the original system. It was first developped on the Atari 8-bit not the PC/X86s (but later ported to PCs among others)
