How do I delete/disable ctfmon.exe?

I read that its microsoft office...which I dont have. Also, I read that there is a virus that disguises itself with the name. And...recently everything I run wants to go through Ctfmon to load. I deny it, it runs fine. But...regardless of what I do, it reappears. So...how do I delete it?

Try running msconfig. It is a tool that allows you to disable programs on startup.

Ctfmon has to do with the Language Bar and alternative text input. First, try turning off the language bar:
In Control Panel, open Regional and Language Options. Go to Languages tab. Click Details button. In the Preferences box, click the Language Bar tab, and turn off everything.

In addition, you can try going to the Advanced tab of this page, and check the box next to "Turn off advanced text services".

Some combination of following the Microsoft article above, along with my instructions, should disable ctfmon.exe.

considering what windows says, it seems obvious that this stops that service.
