"Turn off harddisks" and S-ATA

Post by Oskar_Hanberg »

It seems that it doesn't work to tell the computer to turn off S-ATA-disks to save energy. The disks turn off after X minutes of inactivity, but they don't spin up again when they need to be accessed. Is there a way to fix this or is it just the way the swap works? Yes I did google on it but didn't find anything. It would be great if anyone knew, because Raptor drives are not exactly silent and I'd rather not have them spinning unless needed, Thanks.

I have no problems with my SATA drives and power management. They shut down and spin up when they are supposed to. I don't know what you're doing.

disabling your swap file via registry hacks can mess with power saving settings...

You've just reminded me why Oskar was poked at in the first place.

I don't have that setting anymore. It turned out to be gay.
