Super paper mArio
Has anybody picked this up? It looks amazing, but I'd like to hear from somebody who has some hands on experience with it.

It's pretty good from what I've played of it (through the first "chapter"/world). For the most part, it's just as expected; a mario platformer with elements of the Paper Mario series, including the writing.
Toot toot Sonic Warrior, deep in space and time

It is good, I like the multiple characters.
Paper Mario (which was actually just "mario story" in japan, before they picked up the paper gimmick ideas) had my vote for best story
also I miss the RPG battle engine, but this is a VERY good game, just not in the same way clearly, I think it's good that they didn't let it get stale though.
I still want to see another Paper Mario RPG with the battle engine again though...
Seriously, what kind of asshole makes an old-school 2D emulator that requires a Core 2 to get full speed? >:(
I've been playing it, I think it's quite good in its own way, though I agree I do miss the RPG elements. Thousand Year Door was absolutely astounding, in my opinion. This game is "quite good", so I still like it, but it doesn't come close to the awesomeness of the second one. On the other hand, the "Bitlands" was possibly the coolest level ever.
"Did you see the way that female zombie was looking at me?"
"You're imagining things, Morte."

I've been playing TYD. I'm at the final chapter. It's a surprisingly long game.MorteTheSkull wrote:I've been playing it, I think it's quite good in its own way, though I agree I do miss the RPG elements. yeah, you will. it's not an RPG, there are the same kind of story quirks and paper games, but other than that it's not like the other paper mario games.Firon wrote:I've been playing TYD. I liked it when Paper Mario (the first one known as Mario Story in japan) was simply a storybook game, it's still all right, but it's been corrupted.

I have logged several hours in this game hoping that it would start to be fun, but it has not. There's just no justification for calling this a "Super Mario" game. It seriously made me slog through more than an hour of boring, uninteresting dialog before I could even start "playing" the game. I'm several hours into it and still not having fun nor feeling like the "Super Mario" title fits.
You don't even turn into Super Mario when you use a mushroom! Unacceptable! The designers were way too hung-up on the "Paper Mario" [RPG] aspect of the title to add the fun elements of Super Mario games.
Another unforgivable mistake: A Starman turns you into Mega Mario...since when?!?!
