Actually, I don't quite know for sure. So I read about it for a bit, it looks like it uses part of the Friday 13th myth, but combines it with greek mythology.

In Spanish, Tuesday is "Martes", Tuesday was named for the God of War, violence, chaos and destruction. Even if in greek mythology it was named "Ares", in Roman religion it was named "Marte". So they named Tuesday in the name of that god.

It's supposed to be a bad thing. I find it rather cool.

Edit.- Oh, I forgot, there are a couple of phrases in spanish that ilustrate this, the most known is:

"En Martes no te cases ni te embarques."
Which means:
"On Tuesday don't get married or take trips on a boat (Or any kind of trip)"

I may have, had he not been a cheating asshole. Seriously, it took him cheating on her three times before she had enough. She spent sunday doing a good deal of drinking though, and I got to make sure she didn't do anything stupid.
