Questions about Pokemon: Diamond/Pearl

Post by Lord Alpha »

First off, if you don't like Pokemon and/or find it moronic that I'm playing it, kindly keep those comments to yourself.

Now, onto the point of this post:

About the Online play: How does the banning work? I traded with a friend who used AR to cheat and catch illegal pokemon (the event-only ones) and I got banned. If I haven't cheated directly by using AR myself and trade with someone who hasn't cheated either do they get banned too?

If I am banned and I merely have a wireless battle with someone who isn't, do they get banned?

I know that one can insert a previous Pokemon game into the GBA slot on the DS and catch some Pokemon from that version of the game - can this be done before obtaining the national 'dex?

Pal Park requires National Dex (encounter all Pokémon in the Sinnoh Pokédex excluding Manaphy).

Not quite what I meant, I knew that. I mean that there are pokemon from the inserted GBA game that will appear as random encounters somewhere in the world. "Where" is random, these pokemon are scattered all over and are not one-shots - they're just like the any other wild Pokemon. I just don't know if these will pop up before or after the ational 'dex is obtained

Now hold on just a second. Whoa there. Whooaaah.

...You're permanently banned? Or just banned until you clear your gamepak memory and start another account?

I would really take this up with Nintendo customer service, and politely ask for a refund.

When you upload Pokemon from the GBA games, you need to go to Route 221 where Pal Park is, and you need the National Dex. These uploaded Pokemon only appear in areas of Pal Park. More info here:

I know about Pal Park. that's not what I mean:
Marriland's FAQ wrote: s7.5. GBA Slot Pokemon | /
`-'------------------------'------------------------------------------------`

After obtaining the National Dex, new Pokemon might start showing up in
various locations throughout Sinnoh if you have one of the Pokemon GBA games
inserted into the GBA slot of your Nintendo DS.

As far as I can tell, all Pokemon listed here have an 8% chance of being
encountered, unless it says 4%. These Pokemon will be at the same levels as
the other Pokemon in the area - the exception being in the Northeast Island,
where they'll be at the lower levels (22, 25, 27, 29, etc.).
Obviously, this answers that question as well, but I hope you understand what I was talking about...

Now as to why I bothered to ask this question when it's answered in a FAQ , well I was lazy :p all I ever did was search for where to find a particular Pokemon in the FAQ - I never bothered to read the little paragraph above the list

No, you're right - I'd have to clear my gamepak - not a big deal but I l don't want to have to restart - I don't care much about trading or chatting but I would like to have battles with my friends

I see what you mean now. I was not aware of this particular feature. The feature you are talking about is also explained here:

http://www.serebii.net/diamondpearl/gbapokemon.shtml

As a general rule, catching any Pokemon outside of the dex you get towards the beginning of the game requires the National Dex (been this way since Gold/Silver).
