Ahh, yes. Boredom. The boredom that made me get Omnislash for Cloud on the first CD.

So... who's going to be playin' this 08/31/2007, 10 years since it's release. I sure the f*ck am. This game is the sole reason I rebought a Playstation. Sold the first one for rent money back in the day.

...Hello, my name is DEFIANT, and I'm a Final Fantasy Fag...

WOW, I feel so much better getting that off my chest. Now I can move on. Whew!

Why not use ePSXe to emulate it? I know it's not the same as the real system but it's better than nothing.

Oh, that boredom. I know that boredom. Made me max out Shiva and Quezacotl before getting to the Fire Cave in FF8

Last time I tried epsxe with FF7, it played like crap. Probably just my computer, though.

How about pSX? The game should run fine under it.
Try out CCleaner and other free software at Piriform

maybe it was crap because of:

1) crap disk
2) crap CD drive
3) crap for the sake of having crap load times, etc on CD

try dumping your disk with alcohol 120 or isobuster, then mount it.
<Nach> so why don't the two of you get your own room and leave us alone with this stupidity of yours?

It probably just wasn't set up right or the right plugins weren't used. ePSXe has rather low system requirements, it shouldn't be much of a problem running any game at max framerate on a CPU as old as an Athlon Thunderbird.

I'd suggest getting the PC version if possible, and an old pc with voodoo card.

hmm do I still have a PS for that old POS?
Does [Kevin] Smith masturbate with steel wool too?

I have two FF7, one in english and another version I can ONLY identify as some sort of international version. The latter crashes all the time, kinda like the crappy FF8 spanish version, WHICH I've never known if it's actually cracked or what.

Playing:
Blur, Front Mission DS, Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon, The Last Remnant
In Line:
Far Cry II, Final Fantasy XIII, Revenant Wings

AFAIK, pSX does not have a Linux port.

As of 1.11 it does.

Voodoos and old PCs aren't necessary for it anymore. There are patches that make it run excellently on XP now and utilize video cards that it wasn't originally designed to work with. The motorcycle race is still unplayably fast, though I still managed to beat the boss at the end with around 3 hit points per character, so it's not that big of a detraction.

So it does. This might convince me to throw in this old Nvidia card so that it can actually run.

I just started playing it on my PSP - unfortunately 3.40 has some serious graphic issues that randomly crop up, making the game unplayable. Just got through the ghost train yard.

I remember spending like an hour there trying to steal some staff for Aeris. God the memories. Hell I'm really looking forward to going through it once again. Especially the Chocobo Races. Now there was a lot of time wasted trying to get all the random goodies racing had to offer.

Have fun on your run through.

I'm pretty sure FF7 was a Direct3D app, not one of the barbaric specific chipset things.

It was, but it seemed poorly coded for a port though (I mean, you have 320x240 or 640x480 for res options at the time).

Well, yeah, it WAS poorly coded.
Just saying it wasn't really tied to specific video cards. Though it certainly WAS chained to Win9x(and didn't even work well there).

I meant that it didn't recognize most new video cards until a patch was released. I didn't mean that it was tied to it. I was using it as an example. Bad choice of words, really.
