Screensavers

Post by casualsax3 »

Good place to get a few? There are plenty of resources out there for wallpaper, I find it harder to find a decent looking screensaver though.

Blank screen is the only real screensaver.

I don't use a screensaver

I turn off my monitor when I am done with the computer

barring that, my other computer is my laptop and it has a LCD and has no effect with burn-ins, so..
<Nach> so why don't the two of you get your own room and leave us alone with this stupidity of yours?

I didn't ask whether or not you use a screensaver, and LCD's suffer from image persistence, which is effectively the same thing.

I think the best screen saver ever is that 3d fish one. it beats the hell out of that old black and white mac fish screen saver. by the way, I have the default "windows xp logo floating around" screen saver cause I couldn't care less.

Except that your own link says LCD persistence is temporary and easily fixed, whereas CRT burn-in is permanent.

There's that BSOD (Blue screen of death) screensaver you can download from Microsoft.
Try out CCleaner and other free software at Piriform

If you're really concerned about screen damage, turn on the power-saving feature, so the screen just plain cuts off when your comp is idle.

If you just want to stare at pretty pictures, get a screensaver.

nobody mentioned electricsheep? for shame! You need a good computer and a good net connection but from what i've seen, it's pretty sweet.

I have electric sheep, but the videos are really low resolution and I haven't been able to find a good high res server.

I used to have this screen saver with ants, that would build a colony right on your screen. It was really cool.
