Keyboard help - weird problem

Post by cardula »

I''ve been having this weird problem with my computer/keyboard lately...I can use my keyboard/controller fine with ZSNES but if I want o change any of the keys it is a major pain.

What happens is, when I try to configure a buttom assignment, as soon as I click on the buttom to configure, it automatically assigns it to something like H37 or D23 without me even pressing anything. If I close and reopen ZSNES, (sometimes I have to reopen ZSNES a few times) usually the problem goes away for a minute or so. So I can usually bind one key/buttom before it happens again.

I've tried unplugging my keyboard/controller/mouse (various combinations) and (for unrelated purposes) even reformatted my compuer recently (running winxp pro) and the problem is still there.

I'm using the same computer, same hardware setup and this problem never used to happen. Some other games on my computer have been doing this as well (while others work just fine, VirtuaNES, for example) and I am stumped. Has anyone else had this happen to them? I'd appreciate any help or advice, thanks

Are you using a special keyboard or something (the expensive keyboards)?

Yes, i have had a similar issue before with a joystick i used to use.

With some games and programs, if you have held a button down as you started them (for example the X-axis on a controller) it would take that as the default position or state, and assume that the "True default" was an input, do you have any joysticks, or controllers that might be causing a similar issue?

Does it set the odd keys without the keyboard plugged in, while trying to set with a controller? Is the opposite of this to the same effect?

Also, which version of Zsnes are you using, and does it happen on more than one version of Zsnes?
