New iPods released!
If you look on Apple's site starting now, you will find many changes to the iPod line:
-iPod Touch
-iPod Classic
-iPod Nano
-iPod Shuffle
I just went to the local Apple Store and forgot to look at the iPods.

the new nano looks alright , the new classic may be something to get but I wonder if the battery life has improved for videos , I have an ipod video and it drained a battery fast with video when I tried , havnt tried since they had any updates though

Cheap, some people don't need gigs of music, and it's easier to hide.Gil_Hamilton wrote:I'm still trying to figure out how the Shuffle sells.
I'm not fond of the iPod in general(hate the scroll ring interface, mainly), but the Shuffle is blatantly obvious crap. And it sells like hotcakes.
.. I don't own one, but that's what people tell me when I asked them why they buy it.

five or seven hours, for the 80 and 160 GB models respectively.ReRuss wrote:the new nano looks alright , the new classic may be something to get but I wonder if the battery life has improved for videos , I have an ipod video and it drained a battery fast with video when I tried , havnt tried since they had any updates though
do you not know how to surf the web yet? that information is readily available.

your ipod, not the 5G. big difference.
think about it. the 5G would let you watch about one full length movie. the 5.5 added to that. and here we are.
the fact that you let your batteries go to crap doesn't mean that the initial battery life is wrong.

it's also possible that the original 5G just wasn't up to snuff.
i know they improved battery life on the 5.5, and now i'm supposed to have 40 of audio with my 160.
i'll be getting it by the end of next week, and i can try and see how it is then in "real" conditions.

I meant when comparing the Shuffle to other flash players. The Shuffle has always been feature-deficient and under-capacity for the price it carries.Joe Camacho wrote:Cheap, some people don't need gigs of music, and it's easier to hide.Gil_Hamilton wrote:I'm still trying to figure out how the Shuffle sells.

Current example: The Shuffle 2 costs 80 bucks for a gig of storage
Creative's Zen Stone is the same size, shape, capacity, and control layout. Basically a Shuffle with the Zen logo on it. And costs thirty bucks.
Even better! The Stone Plus is 70, has TWO gig of space, a display, FM radio, recorder, and equalizer!
Not to mention Creative's players generally have far better quality output than Apple's(the iPod line is apparently infamous among audiophiles for it's really bad analog side).
Conclusion: You're an idiot if you buy a Shuffle. Or a sucker for iTunes downloads.
wich iPod are you?
actually steve, I'm not an iPod at all, I'm a human being, maybe you'd be more comfortable calling me an iPerson?
in all honesty that ipod nano doesn't look too shabby for $150. maybe if it retained the slim shape of the previous one, and wasn't so fucking fat I'd run out and sell my soul and buy one. but really, who's got time to sit and watch a movie on a shitty little screen? I know you're thinking what I'm thinking: "some hip person watching a movie on their ipod on the subway" because hip people ride the subway all the time. maybe you're not hip, maybe you can ride the bus and watch your ipod. or maybe you've got money, and like to fly on planes well then you'll look like a hippy sap watching an ipod while all the kids on the plane got 17 inch dvd players. or maybe you're a fucking dumb bitch and like to drive a large SUV while talking on the phone and watching ipod at the same time

maybe I just want a cheap ass mp3 player without having to install bullshit software to transfer my music, you know drag and drop, like a usb mass storage device. oh yeah, and without drm.Maybe you’ve got thousands of songs in your music library. Maybe you have just a few. Maybe you like watching video on the go. Maybe you just wanna grab some tunes and run.
I want to play zsnes at the bottom of the ocean, how can iPod help me do that? maybe I want to play some hd-dvds I purchased, where'sthe hd-dvd drive at steve? No matter where or what you want to play, there’s an iPod made for you.

Any particular reason you prefer the iPod?Mike wrote:Creative? Na Ipod for the win.
I have an Ipod Nano, I wanted the Iphone but I'm still debating
if I should get it or not.
I'm not a Zen loyalist, it was just the easiest comparison, given Creative made an active effort to match the Shuffle's size and feature set on one model.
iPhone, though?
My laughter knows no bounds.

Apple really needs to find a way to "give back" to the early adopters. That $200 price drop could do you a lot of good in something else. You would need no less than a $100 rebate on the next Apple purchase or something to satisfy people IMO.

I hear those Sansa players are quite good. I'm actually tempted to buy one of these, since it's more worth it than the Nano.

Bullshit, I say.Gil_Hamilton wrote:Not to mention Creative's players generally have far better quality output than Apple's(the iPod line is apparently infamous among audiophiles for it's really bad analog side).
Edit: Check this out too, in this case the Shuffle gets the prize.
COWON A2 for the win, BTW.
Anything that makes you install its own software to transfer files onto the device is crap, IMO. My aunt bought a Sony Walkman MP3 for my cousin last xmas and, suffice it to say, it was really fun installing that bloatware on their 800mhz dinosaur and showing them how to use it.
And then there's this clearance Sandisk flashdrive I bought last week that auto-installs its own bloatware, to my sheer amazement upon inserting it. Wow, like I really need a slow-ass helper program bogging down my computer for a fucking FLASH drive? I just didn't quite expect that one.
