Mortal Kombat 2 questions

Post by _InFeRnO_ »

Hello all and glad to find you!

First of all i want to say that zsnes is the ultimate emulator for playing snes and i wish you guys are going to keep up the good work!
Now i want to make some questions about MK2.

1)I have tha cartridge MK2 at my real snes and at the intro where the sculptured logo appears there's sound, at the rom version there's not. Only at the Japanese i have found that.

2)The when Acclaim logo appears normaly we see shao khan and Montaro, but again at the rom version (and not even at the Japanese) we dont see them.

3)I have performed all the Fatalities of all the characters in tha game. Yet strangely i cant do the pit fatality at the acid pool stage, although if i lose i get it! Also i cant make friendships and babalities work! Actually i dont remember ever getting one when losing from an enemy. NEVER! If some of you wonder if i got the correct moves, yes i have them. I have actually double checked them and they are the correct ones!

If anyone has noticed the same things i would glad to get a reply. Or any ideas why i get these things?!
Thanx in advance!

PS:I have tried a series of rom versions and again i didnt see any difference.

About the acid pool fatality:

On most keyboards nowadays you can't press more than a certain amount of keys at the same time (3 most of the time) and since this one uses four (I think it was A + B + Down + Y for uppercut) you won't be able to do it, so I'd recommend you get a controller. It also helps if you ever need or want to multiplay.

The other one... well, I dunno, what version are you using? Some old computers have no VESA 2.0 support and they can't use transparencies making some effects completely invisible.

Thanx for the reply, and YES you are totally right!
If i read more carefully i should have seen that, at the pool you must hold a+b and do the uppercut. As far for the friendships/babalities at the winning round you need not to press any punch in order to make them work!

The only mystery that remains, is the sound at the start and the graphics missing!

are you using the Windows version of zsnes? if your using the DOS version then as said above. you will need a video card supporting vesa 2.0 to get all the video effects. oh and in the emulator make sure to choose a vesa 2.0 compatible resolution too.

There is sound, you need to turn up the speakers. There are multiple versions of MKII that exist.

This is only a triggered event with the controller. It is a documented secret. I've seen the normal intro and special intro on the actual SNES with the original cart.

when you load the rom, in the lower right hand corner does zsnes say "checksum=bad"? if so, you have a hacked rom. it may be hacked to unlock all the game options and stuff, I've seen one like this before. if you run your rom through nsrt it'll tell you if it's an original copy or not.
