I just hope the regular editions are free of the scratches too.

Yea normal editions are in basic cases where discs are held in quite firm till you remove the disc for the first time.

i'm pretty halo is deserving of the hype, as it's an absolutely amazing game. probably one of the best gaming experiences i've had. when you consider that it's a shooter whose story (granted i'm counting the entire trilogy here) stands on par with the likes of FF, you've already got something special. then there's the fact that since halo was the first shooter game to really shine on a console, master chief basically became a modern mario in that respect.
halo 3 is an amazing game with VERY robust multiplayer, a very new twist on map-making for consoles (and in general), a campaign with four player co-op and a meta game to boot, and i think that your hate comes from some sort heavy bias.

I don't know if you all have friends with which to play, but if you can satisfy that one requirement you'll find it's a ton of fucking fun. The story is exceptional as well. Read up bitches.

it's 2007, we should be able to do better than 9 levels.
Seriously, what kind of asshole makes an old-school 2D emulator that requires a Core 2 to get full speed? >:(
Well a good run would take 5 hours to do all 9 levels , plus finding all those skulls (one of which isnt found yet)
The only thing better would be the entire trilogy with the features of Halo 3
They should have made the game longer considering the 4 player co-op speeds it up

yeah I mean it's a solid game, but $60 for 20 levels, over half of which are only multiplayer seems a little steep. especially if the campain only takes 5 to 10 hours.ReRuss wrote:Well a good run would take 5 hours to do all 9 levels , plus finding all those skulls (one of which isnt found yet)

Halo, everyone who disses halo has no friends, or friends with xboxes, halo or halo 2 and a bunch of controllers, I guess.
Story? Story be damned, any videogame story that requires to read 3 books can't be a good videogame story.
Inovation? Maybe the vehicles, they are fun and easy to use.
Stages? Yes yes, very repetitive, boring after a while.
Oh, but a repetitive boring with a simple story single player game, can and DOES become a blast in multiplayer.
Co-op becomes CONTRA in a FPS shooter, remember the NES days? "FUCK YOU, DON'T GRAB THE S GUN!" and stuff like that, it's just fun. You don't care about the stage design, or the story, you just care about shooting aliens with big guns, or shooting your friend in the back, or hitting it just for kicks, rolling him over with the buggie, etc. Quake 2 had co-op, but in Halo it just works.
Oh, and multiplayer, networking xboxes, playing against other 7 players, in different tvs, at different rooms, having some beers and chips. It's like a Lan party in a box, without having to bring all of our pcs, and having them up to date, just to play a damn game. It works, and it works damn fine.
It's like Smash Brothers, but with MORE people, what's not to love? I can't wait to try the 4 co-op campaign in Halo 3.

and that makes my statement wrong, how? last time i checked you already know the story of any FF game since it runs along the lines of: unlikely group of people (usually teenagers) tasked with saving the world from evil guy. thanks for proving my pointCorronchilejano wrote:Mind you, it´s a shooter whose story is a cliché.sweener2001 wrote:when you consider that it's a shooter whose story (granted i'm counting the entire trilogy here) stands on par with the likes of FF

yes, clearly I have "heavy bias" I just hate all fun multiplayer shooters.. . or not.
I think it's just rediculous that people all over america pee their pants for a game that is alright, but not in any way superior to a handful of other current online multiplayer FPS, with more players, more maps, and oh yeah, a KEYBOARD AND MOUSE.
don't think I'm a Halo hater, I just got over it after halo 2, I mean I've played Halo 3 and it's just the same thing again, I'm just not interested anymore, and don't understand why everyone is so excited about it. To me it's just like Tribes 3, or CoD3, or Quake 3, like it's not THAT significant you know? just another halo game, hurrah! I guess?

What's this obsession PC gamers have with the worst possible game controller ever designed?Panzer88 wrote:I think it's just rediculous that people all over america pee their pants for a game that is alright, but not in any way superior to a handful of other current online multiplayer FPS, with more players, more maps, and oh yeah, a KEYBOARD AND MOUSE.

Goldeneye wasn't on a keyboard and mouse, yet, was still freaking fun to play with other people.Panzer88 wrote:I think it's just rediculous that people all over america pee their pants for a game that is alright, but not in any way superior to a handful of other current online multiplayer FPS, with more players, more maps, and oh yeah, a KEYBOARD AND MOUSE.

... WHAT??? Come on! Mouse + Kb is WAY better than an XBox controller. The only reason Halo 2 players on XBox have as good aiming as Vista players is because of AUTO AIM.Gil_Hamilton wrote:What's this obsession PC gamers have with the worst possible game controller ever designed?
The only controller far superior is the Wii controller. Who doesn´t want a good FPS shooter with multiplayer for the Wii? That'd be awesome.

I'll give you that. there are a ton of uber-pricks that love this game. and panzer, it appears that you haven't delved too far into halo 3's multiplayer, since the amount of customization is absolutely insane. to say quake 3 is comparable is ignorant.
and then there's the keyboard + mouse thing. the gap is a lot smaller than you want to believe.

well you are assuming that I haven't played enough to get over the Dual Analog learning curve, I have, I just don't feel it is as precise, but there is no point discussing that because I can't really prove it to you.
also I wasn't saying it was like Quake 3, I was saying it was just the 3rd game in a great series, no reason for the world to stop turning. And yeah, if I judged Halo by the people I have had to play with it would get a terrible rating but I think that is bogus, there are plenty of jerks online, and with plenty of other games too.
Also, I don't care if it is really costomizable, the fact is, it's x amount of maps, you are a human or a covenant, you have a set of weaponry, maybe a few extra guns, few extra vehicles, strategy is basically the same. It feels like a mod or expansion pack for Halo 2. It's like this is what people were expecting THEN, and now that we are HERE, it's not the most impressive thing since sliced bread.
it's ok though, we have different opinions, I like innovation and you don't, that's cool. I just wanted you to understand me clearly so there wasn't any confusion.

But the keyboard and mouse are both fundamentally flawed.
I'd far prefer something like the old Sidewinder Strategic Commander and a trackball. Just off my head.
Or that Saitek thing with a mini-keyboard on it. It at least doesn't have staggered keys, and DOES have a mildly ergonomic shape.
Neither solution offers analog motion, though.

i'll agree to disagree, but mess with forge before you complain about lack of innovation.Panzer88 wrote:well you are assuming that I haven't played enough to get over the Dual Analog learning curve, I have, I just don't feel it is as precise, but there is no point discussing that because I can't really prove it to you.
