The True Believers on BOTH sides are jackasses, they just shout different things.
...
Though only the Linux side can format your drive and install their OS while you aren't looking.
The Church of Windows just goes "We're number one, bitch!" and laughs.
Um wow
I've totally forgot I created this topic, lol. But here my rundown on firefox in my own experience.
Personally, for a while I've used IE, then I heard firefox was good so I switched. Then it was ok for a while, but evil came out of firefox and started to plauge the speed. And I've twitch the thing according to websites to increase speed, but nothing works and trust me I've tried everything...and it just lags horribly. (And due note this is on my XP computer (new), not WinME computer(old))
So now I officially hate firefox, for it is the fail browser at the speed of a snail.
IE7 ftw.

Used IE5, but was annoyed at how it didn't clear the cache (it actually hides it in a hidden Content.IE5 folder) Even newer versions of IE don't fix this.
Tried Fx(back then firebird), liked the good cache cleaning, hated the slow start-time. However, loved the fact that it would ask me what to do with all cookies.
Then I got a newer, spanking computer, and I couldn't tell if Fx loaded slowly (for those of you using a stopwatch with nanosecond precision, stop it: it's unhealthy)
Tried IE7, didn't see any motivation to keep it in my XP box. Vista is another matter.
That's my $0.02

FireFox user here. It can be slow at times, especially with the extensions (AdBlock, CuteMenus, Fission, Flashblock, Linkification, Long Titles, Tab Mix Plus, UI Tweaker, UnPlug). I especially don't like that rendering a page freezes the entire interface.
But it's still better than IE7 (which won't register on my home PC, for some reason...) or even IE6.
Oh, and Cult of DOS FTW.

But that way you can retreive stuff you've downloaded or pictures you've viewed for example, it takes time to get them but for me it's worth it.aprad046 wrote:Used IE5, but was annoyed at how it didn't clear the cache (it actually hides it in a hidden Content.IE5 folder) Even newer versions of IE don't fix this.

I don't hate microsoft. I just hate things that are hyped. By hyped i mean things that are used by many people without a good reason. So yeah, that would be most products by MS, lol.Corronchilejano wrote:Mark7 wrote:I'm using Opera because:

Oh, and who are you to say that whatever reason other people have to use microsoft products isn't "good"? I'll give you "my" reason: They are easy to use.Mark7 wrote:I don't hate microsoft. WHY do you need a good reason to use a web browser? IE is easy to use, Firefox is a memory monster. Nobody tells you to use IE, it just comes with Windows, HOW EASY IS THAT?Mark7 wrote:I don't hate microsoft. I just hate things that are hyped. not to mention IE is the most exploited web browser.Corronchilejano wrote:IE is easy to use, Firefox is a memory monster.
also, let's ignore the fact that bugs in IE take months to fix, for Firefox, it only takes a few days at most.
<Nach> so why don't the two of you get your own room and leave us alone with this stupidity of yours?

So what? At least the version Im using (2.0.0.7) crashes when using anything java-related half the time. I still use it though, as I don´t really use any type of anti-viral or bot program and there are very few for firefox. That doesn´t mean I don´t have trouble, it just means I have a little LESS.adventure_of_link wrote:not to mention IE is the most exploited web browser.Corronchilejano wrote:IE is easy to use, Firefox is a memory monster.

Doesn't happen here, but then again I'm not aware what sites are using Java heavily, or maybe certain exotic features.Corronchilejano wrote:At least the version Im using (2.0.0.7) crashes when using anything java-related half the time.

spybot doesn't have to be browser compatible, either. i run java sites all the time and don't have problems with my FF. your issue may not be with the browser at all. if FF is up to date, then your java may need to be updated, or your computer is so full of bloat/mal/spy-ware that it happens. especially if you're not running basic protection programs.

I do run spybot every week, and ever since I went with firefox, the ocurrences have gone way down, that's the only reason I keep using it.sweener2001 wrote:spybot doesn't have to be browser compatible, either. i run java sites all the time and don't have problems with my FF. your issue may not be with the browser at all. if FF is up to date, then your java may need to be updated, or your computer is so full of bloat/mal/spy-ware that it happens. especially if you're not running basic protection programs.
If it were for speed, I'd be using IE.

except for text shadows, those have only been in the bugfix requests since the late 90s.adventure_of_link wrote:not to mention IE is the most exploited web browser.Corronchilejano wrote:IE is easy to use, Firefox is a memory monster.

Oh SNAP!
it's funny I seem to be the IE advocate here, because I never use it and think it's kinda crappy. oh well. I've always loved a good argument.
EDIT: Ironically enough being an IE advocate and the devil's advocate aren't really that different are they?
