Your thoughts on Sea Monkey?
I started using it yesterday. It seems faster than firefox in loading, and I can use it with OTHER Applications without my PC exploding. Anyone else tried it? I want to change firefox for something better.

no matter how clean a program is, if it's heavy it has the potential to crash more, so firefox for the must part will never be as efficient as Sea Monkey because it's heavier and not as simple.

Actually, both are, for the most part, about equal in terms of complexiy(on the browser side).Panzer88 wrote:no matter how clean a program is, if it's heavy it has the potential to crash more, so firefox for the must part will never be as efficient as Sea Monkey because it's heavier and not as simple.
Arguably, the large number of removed features should make FireFox LIGHTER.
It's just that FireFox is less mature software.
Compounded by a dev team that cares more about adding gimmicks than making sure what's there actually works. Their idea of fixing the problem is to code a crash recovery feature so you can usually re-open the sites you were on after it crashes.
The Seamonkey team's idea of a fix is to STOP THE CRASH.

I only find one BUT for SeaMonkey: It doesn´t open hotmail. Not that I care that much about my hotmail account.phOnYmIkE wrote:could it be that you guys are actually bashing firefox? I thought firefox was the best browser in the world omg you gotta go download it now!!! doesn't matter, internet explorer is and always will be king. so my opinion on sea monkey is that it sucks, plus it has the stupidest name for a piece of software evar!!1
Other than that, it´s faster and more efficient than any other browser I´ve used, including IE.

I just have this weird bug on hotmail. I open it normally, and RANDOMLY after deleting a message, it starts loading SOMETHING and stays there forever on a blank page.

Or you could compile it without the extra components... oh noes, extra effort ! :pDeathlike2 wrote:If Seamonkey was just a browser compenent that I could just directly download (I don't want the other stuff), I'd try it out. However, I use Opera primarily so my Firefox usage is at a minimum.
Anyway, I use it and never had anything wrong happen, so heh.
SVG support is a bit weak, but when you start caring about SVG, it already means something.
