Sound Problems in Linux
I'm using the 10.3 opensuse and i compiled with all the requisite libraries. i can play the roms fine except for the sound, which plays as if it's being filtered through some funky grinding engine. i tried fiddling with the audio settings in zsnes but no dice. i have some crappy onboard yamaha sound card. in yast under hardware->sound it says Card Model: AC'97 Sound Controller, and Driver: snd-intel8x0. in kmix it says SiS SI7012. I'm pretty new to linux so i don't know what all that means. i fathom this is more an issue with my linux setup, but meh. zsnes runs fine in winxp.
nevermind, i recompiled with --enable-libao per http://board.zsnes.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=8947 ( i could swear this wasn't in any of the 1.51 readme files) and it works fine. thanks for the search feature! :-S
Sound in Fedora 8
I'm trying to compile ZSNES in Fedora 8, and zsnes isn't finding libao. Yet, when I type "yum install libao", I get the following:
Package libao - 0.8.6-5.fc8.i386 is already installed.
Package libao - 0.8.6-5.fc8.i386 is already installed.
Is there a way of specifying the specific path to use when searching for libao?

Location of libao
In case anyone is wondering, here is the location of libao in Fedora 8:
/usr/lib/libao.so.2
/usr/lib/libao.so.2.1.3
/usr/lib/libaoss.so.0
/usr/lib/libaoss.so.0.0.0

/usr/lib/libaoss.so.0.0.0

You're probably missing the libao development files.
