Best Donkey Kong Country?
Moderator: General Mods
good idea, unfortunately the dev team that made it was RARE and they are gone, sure someone else could do it but last I knew Shiggy wasnt' to keen on good ole DKC, he likes mario for his platforming and DK for arcade style stuff (Mario vs. DK)
the same tragedy has befallen Wario, although he did just get Master of Disguise.
Kirby too for awhile didn't have any kirby adventures but he's gotten a few since.
*shrugs* it'd be a very cool idea for Wiiware, Nintendo needs to capitalize on this, making new SNES-ish level games, they could make them cheaper because of digital distrobution and they wouldn't take up that much space on the system.

I don't think there is anything stopping rare from making a new Donkey Kong Country game. They made a port of Diddy Kong Racing on the DS (though there is debate on how well that was done). Donkey Kong Country 2 is one of the greatest 2D platformers ever, and I doubt it will ever be replicated by Rare. I do hope that they do make similar 2D games for the Wiiware.
<pagefault> i'd break up with my wife if she said FF8 was awesome

RARE would never dedicate a AAA team to a 2D sidescroller, I doubt even Nintendo would, this is the problem, and if they did get RARE to do a new one (the only real way to get a true donkey kong country game) I'm sure it would be pretty complicated. Sure they've done lots of ports since the separation but a brand new game is a different story.
I bet we'll see Killer Instinct 3 before this.

Well, anything is technically possible... Rare still does games for the GBA and DS (which really confuses me, but I'm not about to complain). To my knowledge they still had a hand in the later DKC ports as well, so maybe if we're all really nice and polite and eat our vegetables...Panzer88 wrote:RARE would never dedicate a AAA team to a 2D sidescroller, I doubt even Nintendo would, this is the problem, and if they did get RARE to do a new one (the only real way to get a true donkey kong country game) I'm sure it would be pretty complicated. EDIT: haha, DCK

all ports IIRC, not original content, big whoop, and bad ports at that, and like some other people said.DancemasterGlenn wrote:Well, anything is technically possible... Old RARE is gone, there are prolly very few still there from the DKC days, heck, even DK64 was a large departure. Not that I'm expecting same gameplay but the characters were changed around and it had a different feel, like nintendo told them to make it so they made a Donkey Kong Banjo game, which in turn copied Mario 64.

And it still secretes rotten liquids into the market.Joe Camacho wrote:Silly dudes, RARE is dead.
DKC is a dead franchise. 2 was the best, 3 was a nice try. They should try other ways of exploiting the franchise, IMHO no more Banjo-kazzoie clones.

Mario vs. DK might not be our favorite games in the world, but they are true sequals to the arcade DK, I'd take them over King of Swing, Bongo, and Jungle Climber, I mean at least they are true to SOMETHING.
