ive tried unplugging it and plugging it into a different port etc. but it has no effect on the issue. there are no drivers provided with the adpater and since it converts the ps2 controller connector to USB it should work with windows

This only applies to those controllers plugged into the sound card's midi/gameport connector. And it's still there. Control Panel-> Game Controllers, Add button.franpa wrote:my specs are in my signature, i've looked at tho's options and even run the "add new hardware wizard" and i can get a list of devices, but the only thing related to gampads is "gameports" which isnt what im after. under windows 9x they had a whole category dedicated to joypads and gamepads, or i'm pretty sure it did.
tried, windows keeps detecting it and listing it as a "unknown device" and uninstalling/reinstalling doesn't change what its detected as. immediately connecting it results in windows saying it malfunctioned during detection and then it successfully installs it as a "unknown device" and is listed under Universal Serial Bus Controllers.phOnYmIkE wrote:maybe fire up device manager (control panel, system, hardware, device manager) with the controller unplugged. make note of any usb stuff and human interface devices. then plug the controller in and refresh. you should see the controller pop up, it pry won't be called "franpa's ps2 controller" so look around, it might be called HID device under usb or smth. uninstall the driver from there, then it will reinstall the drivers if you add new hardware.
hell those things are cheap, maybe windows is saying it's malfunctioning because it's broken. try it on another pc.
