would it be possible to build zsnes 1.42 to load jma files as well?
how hard would this be to implement for someone with a high-school programming education (never really got into it)?

v1.42N also has the updated JMA library. If you want the updated JMA library in any v1.4 branch of ZSNES, just copy the JMA library from a later one, and recompile it.
