Not a whole lot of detail has been given about it, but I'm sure excited.

God this better not fucking be 3D.

I just know it's gonna be. I'll praise the heavens if it actually is beautiful handdrawn 2D, but it's not gonna happen, I'm sure of it.

Yeah, that HD SFII doesn't count. /shudder

yeah I saw the teaser of this earlier on gametrailers but didn't think to mention it. The tease is just a teaser but I'm pretty sure this is going to be 3D models with a heavily cell shaded/ hand painted look, and will probably play from a strictly side view.

go over here to see the trailer if you haven't already

omg no 3d, 3d is the devil, look at how blocky mario is.
Gah. What is this, 1995?

As always, seeing is believing.

meh, what am I saying, they always screw up the classics. The graphics won't be to blame.

I'm talking about you, Dawn of Mana. And fricken Grandia III.

Grandia 3 was fucked because Game Arts went down the crapper.

Let's be honest, we're talking about a company that did 5 Lunar remakes in 6 years, each one worse than the last. The only thing that surprises me at all is that Grandia 2 came out decently.

that's an excellent point that I didn't even think about. maintaining the look isn't nearly as important as maintaining the quality of gameplay and competition.

There was and is more wrong with 3D than just "blocky characters".

Uhhh... that's a trailer of a movie called Beowulf, has nothing to do with Street Fighter.

no it isn't, there's just a random ad at the begining and you must have gotten a beowolf ad, if you had skipped the ad or waited for the duration of it the Street Fighter click would have come up.

silly.

Also Black 3D isn't bad at all if it still operates entirely 2D. In otherwords, it can have 3d characters and still be a 2D fighter.

this is commonly refered to as 2.5D.

Yep. Just as long as it doesn't play like Street Fighter Ex/Rival School/Final Fight Revenge.... I'm cool with 3D

although i've read that collision detection can be a problem with 2.5D, and with a franchise like this.....

That sounds ridiculous - collision detection should be insanely easy with a 3D engine, as you can instantly tell if two objects are occupying the same voxel.

Thunderforce V.

If it's good enough for a shooter, it's good enough for a fighter.

ah gil, the voice of reason, I didn't think of that but yeah that shouldn't be a problem, just some diehard 2D fighter fan rumor (don't get me wrong, I'm a 2D fighter fan also, King of Fighters all the way)
