USB Video Capturing

Post by neo_bahamut1985 »

I'm sure you've had people ask this before, so that's why I'll put it here.
Okay, so I just got this USB video capture device that lets you copy VHS to DVD or you can do DVD to DVD videogames to your PC, etc. and right now, I'm using software called Ulead VideoStudio. It is really hard to set up correctly! The instructions are hard to understand, so I tried downloading Honestech's VHS to DVD 3.0 and I can get video/sound, but it's not the full version, so I can't control the compression at all. Does anyone know where I can get a free version of some software that's easy to use AND lets you control compression? The files are too huge even after 30 seconds (30MBs)

I found this problem too , tho we were runninga cheap device

Media Player Classic worked with no compression and we could see the video... and Windows Movie Maker worked (video was a lil choppy) and it was compressed and decent looking

Far as I know , it's easier when the capture device uses built in MPEG2 compression

Okay, I used Windows Movie Maker and it worked perfectly, the problem now is finding the best/easiest way to do a WMV to DVD burning. Any suggestions?

TMPGEnc Express shoudl work to make it mpeg , then TMPGEnc also has a DVD Auth to make it a DVD , unless the DVD Auth can use the WMV , I never tested it but it should work

Yeah, after I encode it for the DVD (through said software) what would be the best way to burn it?

flamethrower.

If you can't afford that, you could use matches.

Toaster...

Once you get it as a dvd (should be folders , the main one you need it video_ts or whatever) you could use Nero , there's others that could do just as well but I just use Nero and Alcohol 120% (Alcohol mainly is for burning images I beleive)

Funny thing is, I got Microsoft DVD Maker and installed it; but for some weird reason, I can't find where it installed to!
