BS-X Satellaview Prob

Post by tree56 »

Im trying to open the BS-X BIOS up in ZSNES.

Ive tried on 3 versions of Zsnes but it wont work, Ive also put the file path of the BIOS file in the paths dialog box in the 'Config' menu, and when I try to load the BIOS all I get is a blank screen.

Help please!

You don't "open up" the BIOS... you are supposed to set it up with ZSNES via the paths section.

On the other hand, IIRC, it isn't being used for anything... yet.

It is worth pointing out that the BIOS is not a ROM. That's what you are not comprehending.

zsnes does not actually do anything with the bs unit as of yet. mos bs games have a hacked copy that runs without the need for the BS bios. (like BS Zelda)

I just used Snes9x and I opened up the BIOS file like a game and it got me into the town fine.

I wonder why ZSNES cant do that?

Something to fix maybe?

BS-X support in ZSNES is not good to begin with. There needs to be lots of work done to even get such support in.

SNESGT is currently the best BS-X emulator. Unfortunately, proper BS-X support requires a lot of hackery, such as game lists that store timestamps needed to skip the long pauses for timed games and such. Most BS-X games weren't actually possible to play whenever you felt like it. They also "expired" after a certain number of days and were automatically flagged as unplayable. SNESGT re-enables all games when loaded. As I don't do either of those, bsnes is far less compatible.

Getting into the BS-X town doesn't require anything but a custom mapper for the BIOS. The flash I/O, cart MMC and base unit I/O can all be ignored and it'll still work. But it's pretty pointless: no doors are open but the one to play saved games in. And that obviously won't have any, nor would they load anyway.
