Gamebridge Issues

Post by Zant »

Hello, I have an Adaptec Gamebridge AVC-1400. I bought because it was a resonable price and I have seen that it can record videos with good picture quality. The problem I have is with the installation. Right when I put the installation cd in it says:

Gamebridge requires a CPU speed 1.3 GHz. Your system CPU speed is 1.0 GHz.

Then I have the option of continuing or cancelling the installation. I click "continue anyway." What I don't understand is why it detects I have a CPU of 1.0 GHz when it should be around 2.0 GHz. This is my computer: http://www.amazon.com/Presario-SR2010NX ... B000IMSOS0

The second and bigger problem I have is even after I continue the installation. I plug in my Gamebridge into the USB slot and then a little window pops up and says:

Adaptec Gamebridge AVC-1400/1500 Loader has not passed the Windows logo testing to verify its compatibility with windows XP. Continuing installation of this software may impair or destabalize the correct operation of your system either immediately or in the future. Microsoft strongly recommends that you stop this installation now and contact the hardware vendor for software that has passed windows logo testing.

I really don't know if I should still try to install this because I don't want it to seriously harm my computer. Is this warning a big deal? And shouldn't my computer be enough to handle using the Gamebridge? :? Any help would be greatly appreciated. :)

Welcome to the world of Cool 'n' Quiet. Your processor dynamically underclocks (slows itself down) when it's not being pushed, to draw less power and put off less heat. That stupid installer is seeing the lowered clock speed and complaining. Ignore it.

This means Adaptec either 1) didn't bother to fully test their driver and therefore wouldn't submit it to Microsoft for testing or 2) didn't feel like paying Microsoft to get the driver signed to make the warning go away. Like any time you're installing new drivers, make sure your important stuff's safe and be ready to boot in safe mode and yank it if things get ugly.

More than likely, it'll work just fine, though.
Why yes, my shift key *IS* broken.

Thank you very much for the explanation. I did some further investigating and I found this: http://download.adaptec.com/pdfs/user_g ... g_v1.0.pdf On page 16 is the screen that I was talking about. Therefore, you are probably right. Thanks again! :D
