oh well I'm officially stupid

you're prolly right, I just remember almost getting an XBOX and then getting a gamecube. A lot of people I knew got XBOX's and it came bundled with the system, I would always try to get them to break it out so I could see it and play it because the first game is one of my favs, but they were always like "that game sux"

I could never understand it. I guess I was just immediately surrounded by a bunch of pricks. Thanks for restoring my faith in humankind ;)

Sega hasn't exactly been mainstream since the Genesis left.

Jet Set Radio falls in the not-mainstream category.
You expect the people that fuel the constant #1 game sales of EABall 20xx to like JSRF?

yes :P

ok maybe not, but I expect there to still be enough sega gamers for them to turn a profit.

the thing is, Jet Set may not have sold that well, but I KNOW that not all of their franchises tanked, I think it was a bad idea to disassemble all of their studios, in the end they are just churning out one crappy sonic game after another, party games, phantasy star, and thank goodness Virtua Fighter is still going strong, but they really need to bring back some good franchises, and I don't mean like Alien Syndrome, or those sad shinobi and would be vectorman sequels that were flops (I believe the vectorman one was canceled outright)

heck they don't even need to bring the franchises back (although another panzer dragoon, or the conclusion to the Shenmue saga would be nice) but they at least need to pull their teams back together (that is the people who haven't quite and moved on to greener pastures by now) and make some good original content too. They could compete in niche markets like SRPGs and other stuff. They could start on handhelds and build momentum from there. Heck, if they would just stop and make a decent sonic game like konami keeps making decent Castlevania games then that right there would gain them a lot of ground.

Are you playing Gold or original?
Gold I find frustratingly hard too, and not as fun, I haven't played it much as a result. The original version is a bit tough at first but if YOU KNOW WHAT YOU DOING, you're overpowered to hell after about 75% of the story on normal difficulty.

Im going for frustration itself: Im going to pass Battletoads, again, after many years, on my NES. I just finished the first TMNT, and it will NEVER be as hard as Battletoads.

Looking forward to find Battlemaniacs in an oldies store.

Didn't know there were two versions... IIRC it was included on a magazine CD, but I no longer have it. They probably went for the Gold version.

No. I'm not very good yet. There are three "loops" and the real final boss is at the end of the third loop. I only got to 2.1....

If you want to see put and replace this in the ETCdat folder of Chorensha

somebody give Yu Sazuki the money to finish Shenmue. You barely get to the reason it's even called Shenmue by the end of the second game. Sheesh. He needs to make the whole series remade shiny on one disk in the next generation of gaming. That would kick ass.

That's going to be hard to do. What publisher would give him the money to make another Shenmue game? The series was a flop (financially) and it's going to take a lot of convincing for a company to provide him the money.

I didn't say it'd be sane :P why aren't any of the people with too much money to spend (aka billionaires) video game fanatics?

Worse thing is the series was originally supposed to spread over like six installment or something. Even if there were a third Shenmue released on the PS3 or whatever (with or without the previous chapters included) it would still be a somewhat rushed way to finish the series.

edit: also imo, it's sometimes better to never have a sequel (even when one was planned from the start) then to have a possibly crappy one.

Kinda likes the difference between simple stars and Legends...

Bruce Lee
Monroe
Kennedy
etc...

Let's face it: part of their legend is attributable to the fact they have died prematurely/at the peak (more or less) of their glory.

yeah this is a common misconception. there are 6 chapters to shenmue, but shenmue 2 covers like chapters 1-4 or something (shenmue 1 being a prologue) the final two chapters COULD be two separate games, but it is much more likely that it would be one last game.

what you say is true, but shenmue never had a ton of popularity, and the first two games were made at the same time. The third game wouldn't have to play very differently, and they already have the plot of it really. it really wouldn't be that hard except for the time and budget.

finally, I might not trust other people to do proper finales, but I trust Yu Suzuki, there have had movies that have had the final chapter years after the initial series and been great movies, I have faith in Mr. Suzuki :)

Oh yeah, 100% agrees. Afaic it's Yu Suzuki or no sequel at all. I wouldn't want Shenmue to turn into Terminator 3 (well, not a perfect comparison but you know, with T3 being done by a different director than Cameron and all and it mostly sucking)

But you forget something: Terminator 2 sucked WITH Cameron.
Terminator 3 was actually a mild improvement over 2.

The first movie was a great movie. But NEITHER of the sequels were worth watching.

That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.
