Terminator 3 was actually a mild improvement over 2.

The first movie was a great movie. But NEITHER of the sequels were worth watching.

That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.
Exactly, YOUR story only.

It's one thing to say you thought T2 sucked. That's OK.

But thinking that T3 is actually better than T2? I take it you completely missed the lack of deeper meaning in T3...(T2 didn't have much, but it at least had more than just brain dead nonesense...)

Oh yeah, 100% agrees. Afaic it's Yu Suzuki or no sequel at all. I wouldn't want Shenmue to turn into Terminator 3 (well, not a perfect comparison but you know, with T3 being done by a different director than Cameron and all and it mostly sucking)

Well I mostly agree with you. I do think T2 was better than T3 but I agree the only "real" Terminator movie was the first one. The other two sequels were mostly excuses to capitalize on the success of the first one.

Mine was a bad analogy anyway, because in the case of Terminator, there never was supposed to be sequels, so anything beyond that is just some cooked up excuses for a quick way to make cash. The same is not true for Shenmue, as sequels were planned from the get go, but were canceled for financial reasons.

Terminator 3 is only mildly better. And that's only due to continuity issues.

The entire plot of Terminator 1 is a predestination paradox. Everything has to happen, because it ALREADY happened.
That means Judgement Day CANNOT be stopped.

Terminator 2 completely breaks everything by stopping Judgement Day.
If they'd had a subplot with John Conner dealing with the fact that saving humanity meant eradicating himself from existence, I'd be a lot more accepting of 2.
But as-is, it's a generic action movie with a laughable villain(O NOES TEH MERCURY AM COMING!1111) and no respect for the original.

Terminator 3's whole reason for existence is to fix what T2 broke.

And I only just realized it last night, but neither T2 nor T3 respects the most important aspect of the original time travel mechanic: inorganic material can't be transported.
Neither the T-1000 nor T-X had an organic shell like the Governator. Consequently, neither one can be sent through time. And the T-X showing up nude is just laughably bad planning on T3's part.

I thought it was to squeeze cash.

Weren't the minds behind Terminator I & II against a third part?

I believe so. I know Cameron turned it down, despite the huge amount of cash it would have made him.

I really don't think T2 was made exclusively for money. You don't spend 7 years(Seriously, it was around 5-7 years) in a legal battle for the rights to make the movie when the length of time getting the right to make it has a damn good chance of killing any chances the movie might have to make money...

Apologies for the shit grammar in that last paragraph, I'm barely awake.

Edit: Looks like I might be wrong... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terminator_3

The scary part is that T2-3D was apparently supposed to be a stepping stone to the third film...

Well, there seem to be some biological parts:

I mean it's Arnold as a robot from the future who kicks ass, how could that be a good movie?

Don't know about the rest of you, but I was 15 when T2 was released and that shit was awesome at the time. The liquid metal effect was the height of special effects and inspired awe in our simple brains.

T1 just scared the hell out of me in the 80's. T3 was garbage.

They retconned it so that living tissue and "mimetic polyalloy" can be teleported, because the mercury mimics living tissue.

I picked up Batallion Wars for the GC, after leaving it on a mission I thought was impossible, quite a fun game I must say.

do you have a Wii? there is a sequel, and for better or worse it is supposedly a bit easier.

I'd have to agree, the film won a Academy award in visual effects due to this, plus loads other minor things.

As for the games I'm playing:

TimeShift
F.E.A.R
Quake 4
Splinter Cell 3
Doom 3

That's good to hear. No, I don't have a Wii, yet. The thing is, the enemy is VERY smart and your troops are dumb as bricks, at least that what I felt in the beginning of the game, so I used a very slow but effective tactic.

Instead of deploying all my forces, I would just take one grunt at a time, I can kill 4 light tanks with 1 bazooka veteran. But in the later stages, that tactic can't be used. So I had to deal with the fact I was going to lose men.

It's a pretty fun game, so it's good to know that the Wii sequel isn't as frustrating.

I am upset for how Quake 4 turned out, I'm infuriated with how little they try to help this IP. It's been all downhill since Quake 1, none of the rest had the tone that that one had, or the graphical impact.
