WPM
Words Per Minute. What is yours?
Mine, measured on http://www.typingtest.com:
Net Speed: 78 WPM (words/minute)
Accuracy: 96%
Gross Speed: 81 WPM (words/minute)
The test I selected was 3 minute duration, "The Enchanted Typewriter". Speed unit WPM, obviously.
If there has been a thread about this already, oops.

You should get a handicap because (I assume) you're not English-native.MisterJones wrote:Net Speed: 43 WPM (words/minute)

What would be your speed on a Spanish-language test?

I would probably get nearly the same, slightly higher at best. I suck at typewriting.Jipcy wrote:You should get a handicap because (I assume) you're not English-native.MisterJones wrote:Net Speed: 43 WPM (words/minute)

the truth is I go even faster when typing out of my own head rather than copying something off of a page.
I wonder if there is a way to take your speed and accuracy if you already have something in your head to write. I should look into that because I figure I could go at least 70 WPM
*shrugs*
also I could say I didn't use my "usual" keyboard, but to be honest I don't think it would have made a difference, that sounds about as good as I get copying other peoples words. I think it's because I have trouble reading and typing at the same time, I always get like one word ahead and stuff like that. Plus I backspace a lot.

Wow, I did better than I thought, considering I'm not a native English speaker, type with three fingers (yeah Idunno either), and need to periodically glance down at my keyboard because I can't type blindly. :p

I should shoot for 100 in all categories!
Of course, the most fun way to measure (and practice) you're typing is The Typing of the Dead.

fastest typist in the world, I'd like to see a vid of her doing that, it must be a terrible noise her typing, holy hell though, she can keep up 150 WPM for 50 min without falling below.
her normal score on a regular length (prolly 3 to 5 min) test is 170 WPM
her top score is 212 WPM
maybe I should look into getting a Dvorak

now we just need to hook her up with Typing of the Dead, she'd be a f*cking god.
some typing tutor developer should release a program with online leaderboards, and record a sit down her her typing some specific things, and then you could face off vs. her recording, you could also have her as the highest score and see if anyone in the world could top it.
I've been on the XBLA too much

Eh? You have hard time believing 90wpm? I guess you wouldn't believe 120+ @ 100% accuracy then.Jipcy wrote:Wow! Assuming we're all telling the truth, you're the first to beat me! Although I imagine some of the devs (Nach) are pretty fast.alexz721 wrote:90 wpm

No, it's not that I have a hard time believing it. I'm sure some people can type very fast. I was just saying that we all have to take each other's word on the truthfulness of how fast we are.Cyrus wrote:Eh? You have hard time believing 90wpm? I guess you wouldn't believe 120+ @ 100% accuracy then.
Are you saying you're 120 WPM @ 100%? I do find that a little hard to believe, if only for the 100% accuracy. But hey, I'm not here to judge.
If only our brains could write papers in our heads as fast as we can type them.
I'm coming to learn that not all computer geeks are necessarily fast typers.Clements wrote:I doubt that I could ever physically type more than 30 WPM like you even with lessons. Therefore I am champ!
