Chrono Trigger: Prophet's Guile

Post by Panzer88 »

a short hack that is a chapter or so long from Chrono'99 and a few others from the Chrono Compendium. They are the guys who made the Crimson Echoes demos, and they are again working on Crimson Echoes now so be sure to poke your head over there and let you know how much you like this one.

hack:

7z version

zip version

give it a whirl, it's interesting, it's short enough not to take to much time, and it ties into the chrono trigger storyline, and I'm sure the crimson echoes storyline (which will bridge chrono trigger and chrono cross's storylines)

A link to the website is more valuable than a direct link to their files.

it's basically part of Magus' backstory that you missed out on in Chrono Trigger, his exploits as the prophet of Zeal etc. (don't want to spoil too much for everyone)

Err... what ? <_<
Chrono cross/trigger are ALREADY bridged together. What did you miss that would make you think they're not ?

yes, perhaps my phrasing was a bit bad, but that's what they said. But if you've ever played the Crimson Echoes demos it picks up pretty much RIGHT after the ending of Chrono Trigger.

while the events are bridges sufficiently I guess, there still is a period of time that is skipped over, Crimson Echoes covers that, but don't take my word for it, talk to them.

Well, radical dreamers is supposed to be more of an official transition between the two games, but I've never played it.

well, Radical Dreamers is more of a seperate entity scripted by the original Chrono Trigger guys that was sort of used as a platform to make Chrono Cross. It is NOT chronilogically inbetween, that's a common misconception. To be honest I kinda like the Radical Dreamers take on things more than the Chrono Cross in some areas but that is neither here nor there, especially considering that it was a glorified demo of a text adventure (even though it was fun/interesting)

I said transition, and by that I meant it's used to get people in the cross mindset and not expecting another chrono trigger, which... they were and are.

I do need to play cross one of these days.

Also. *hump*

ah, I see, well the fact is there is still plenty of empty space to make a game out of what is going on with the characters during these times, fill in the gaps and whatnot, and I gotta say I like what these guys are doing with it.

It's interesting, but they also do their homework, it's true to the world of Chrono (not just Prophet's Guile, but Crimson Echoes also) so yay for that.

seriously people, it's not that long and it's awesome, if you are a chrono trigger fan, just give it a whirl.

I will, maybe at like 4 AM when I'm not busy.

It's a date, then. I'll wear my best (and only) dress for it.

Nice, thanks very much. I'll give it a whirl on my PSP, though it says that it has issues with SNES9x :(

Finished it - it was really nice to dive back into Chrono Trigger again, even though it was just for an hour or two.

If this were just text, it'd be decried as a lame fanfic.
As a general rule, I don't read fanfics.

This is no exception.

it's not just text, but it is limited in the combat areas, you should still check it out if you like the chrono trigger storyline though.

I said if it WERE just text, we wouldn't be having this discussion.

I DO like Chrono Trigger. And Chrono Cross.
I DON'T feel the urge to spend my time reading/playing a fanfic intended to bridge the two.

Um, it's not bridging the two?
It happens during the CT storyline.

could be, we'll actually have to wait until we find out what the crimson echoes are (if anything) before we can pass judgment eh?

So it connects Chrono Trigger to ANOTHER fanfic, and THAT fanfic is supposed to connect Chrono Trigger to Chrono Cross?
