I have to admit, you were probably right. I probably did say it was overrated, even when I didn't play it. I think the hype just was overwhelming. Glad we're putting this behind.sweener2001 wrote:i'm pretty sure that at the time, you hadn't played it, and were saying that it was overrated. not that it matters anymore, that was awhile ago.snkcube wrote:Well, I didn't like Halo 1's single player levels, especially the in-door ones. did you hardpatch it? also there is no official ZSNES 1.52 am I right? so what are you using WIP? in any case SNES9x supposedly has issues, but Zsnes should be fine as long as you hardpatch, I used zsnes 1.50 but I'm sure 1.51 works also.corronchilejano wrote:It crashes right after the first screen in Zsnes 1.52, what version have you people used? I don't blame you whether or not it was overrated, it certainly was overhyped.snkcube wrote: I have to admit, you were probably right. I probably did say it was overrated, even when I didn't play it. I think the hype just was overwhelming. Glad we're putting this behind.

Have you played it yet?
If not, your opinion on it doesn't count, so I'm not going to bother reading the rest of your post (a quick skim still lets me know it's on the hack) until you've played it.
I'm sure if the hack was a black guy- *gets banned*

Well, isn't the new ZSNES version 2? So since there's no "ZSNES 1.5~" (as much as I love the tilde), let's assume that's a typo of 1.51.Panzer88 wrote:did you hardpatch it? also there is no official ZSNES 1.52 am I right?corronchilejano wrote:It crashes right after the first screen in Zsnes 1.52, what version have you people used? Which is odd, 'cause I'm using 1.51 and it works for me. I think I used lunar IPS on a rom I knew was good.

The save point right after leaving Melchior in a block of ice (nowhere near as cool as Han Solo). My impressions? Magus doesn't know what type of bad guy he is. On one side he speaks as if he had connection with what's going on and at the same time he speaks of vengeance, and the dialog is not convincing at all. Playing solo makes battles a burden, since there's no strategy to follow, except on the battle with the beast, where if U didn't time your first attack, you where probably dead.
On the Plus side... well... the only plus side I see is people that wanted this relived, cause right now I see no oher reason for it. Thank god it wasn't on the original game.
EDIT: I just finished it. Too short, the battles are annoying (to say the least), and it just looks like a demo in itself. The writing isn't bad, but it's not good either. How do you know this was written by fans? Their definition of maturity comes with someone swearing or having sex (in this case the earlier).
All in all, it was an empty experience I would not recommend.

Anybody going to go over and criticize how hard the battles are? Considering it's magus, couldn't they have given him some other techs, and then make up some incident where he loses them in zeal? It would explain how he was so powerful in your fight against him (the first one, I haven't fought him the second time in years), and then when he joins you he has jack compared to before.

I personally don't think the battles where hard, they where almost SCRIPTED. You NEED to know the strategy of every monster you encounter (ANNOYING since most of them killed you at least once before it happened), but after that it was almost impossible to lose, since just doing things in order made you win.
I only lost two battles, but in itself was because of the sheer randomness of some enemies weaknesses. If something is swimming in lava, what would it be weak to? Oh, it's not that obvious. The final battle was ALSO annoying, because it was enduring the test of time.
This is one of the most precise reasons why I h8t most fanfics. I in fact would've loved to see something different even if it wasn't cannon, I dunno. Maybe go the extra mile and make frames for the queen, shala and dalton an make their own adventure or something, but these people forgot what it means to make a game: IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE FUN.

I remembered two more things:
1.)For "remixes" they only changed the instruments for some songs.
2.)They ripped some of FF6s songs and put them in the game, which are "Daryl's Song", "Back to Towne" and "Terra's Theme".
Also, there's an empty developer's room talking about doing another story with the other Zealian warlock or something.
Seriously, this is only for Chrono fans, and BIG chrono fans that is.

I think that statement is really the core of it all.corronchilejano wrote:I remembered two more things:

I mean this came out of the compendium, what was expected?

That's the definition of "remix"...corronchilejano wrote:I remembered two more things:

One of the contributors to the hack is responsible for that. AFAIK, a lot of the Squaresoft SPC code/program is very similar between the different games.2.)They ripped some of FF6s songs and put them in the game, which are "Daryl's Song", "Back to Towne" and "Terra's Theme".

The tool/editor for this game IIRC is pretty good AFAIK, and you can make your own remake of something different altogether...

From Wikipedia:Deathlike2 wrote:That's the definition of "remix"...
Just an instruments change is too basic to be called a remix, although technically it may seem to fit.Wikipedia wrote:A remix is an alternative version of a song, different from the original version. A remixer uses audio mixing to compose an alternate master recording of a song, adding or subtracting elements, or simply changing the equalization, dynamics, pitch, tempo, playing time, or almost any other aspect of the various musical components. Some remixes involve substantial changes to the arrangement of a recorded work, but many are subtle, such as creating a "vocal up" version of an album cut that emphasizes the lead singer's voice. A song may be remixed to give a song that was not popular a second chance at radio and club play, or to alter a song to suit a specific music genre or radio format. Remixes should not be confused with edits, which usually involve shortening a final stereo master for marketing purposes.
Yes, I decided to stroll by Chrono Compendium to check some information, and it is indeed worthy of praise how they did it. This is probably the reason Im interested in hacking this rom now.Deathlike2 wrote:One of the contributors to the hack is responsible for that. Unfortunately that's all they can do at the moment, to my knowledge. The tool made to switch songs between certain squaresoft titles is actually the most advanced thing I've seen anyone do with super nintendo music. I was supposed to do music for a hack myself, but no one has any way to alter existing music (let alone add new songs) besides changing instrument parts. Unless of course, the whole community is just unaware of a tool that will accomplish spc sequencing? I'd love to find out I was wrong about that one...corronchilejano wrote:Just an instruments change is too basic to be called a remix, although technically it may seem to fit.
But yeah, while it seems pretty lame to call those songs "remixes", I thought it was pretty cool they could do anything different music-wise at all.
