holding the remote sideways turns it into an NES style controller. that could work. add in support for the classic, and that should cover your bases.
unless your concern is something totally different. i think the wii has the power to run it fine.

The only really suitable controller is the Hori stick.sweener2001 wrote:holding the remote sideways turns it into an NES style controller. that could work. add in support for the classic, and that should cover your bases.

But no, my concern is raw horsepower.
The TypeX is a bit of a monster.
Come on Gil, that's just silly. Some of the most insane shooters were on the Dreamcast for gods sake.
Funny how, as time goes on, people conveniently forget things. In 10 years, I'm sure there will be someone going "an FPS, on the PS3? I don't think it'll have the horsepower... maybe if they limit it to one enemy on screen at all times" or something equally odd.

I mean the Type X is a 2ghz P4 with ati 9600 and 512 ram. If any games used the full potential of the system theres no way a proper wii port could happen without completly redoing models and textures.Allnatural wrote:Raiden III was ported to the PS2 without framerate problems. Shiki III is arguably more manic, but I'm sure the Wii can keep up.Gil_Hamilton wrote:But no, my concern is raw horsepower.

Like Shikigami 2.blackmyst wrote:Come on Gil, that's just silly. Some of the most insane shooters were on the Dreamcast for gods sake.
The PS2 port even added an option that wasn't in the original NAOMI and DC versions. To toggle an emulation of the NAOMI/DC slowdown on or off.
Sadly, there isn't an option to toggle between the horrific US localization and a decent one, or between engrish and japanese).
Heck, I love Mars Matrix, and it was an enhanced version of a CPS2 game.
If I was worried about the genre as a whole, you'd have a point.Funny how, as time goes on, people conveniently forget things. In 10 years, I'm sure there will be someone going "an FPS, on the PS3? I didn't say "a shooter." I said ONE SPECIFIC GAME that was originally developed for hardware far more powerful than the Wii.
I saw some complaints about Raiden 3, actually.Allnatural wrote:Raiden III was ported to the PS2 without framerate problems. Shiki III is arguably more manic, but I'm sure the Wii can keep up.Gil_Hamilton wrote:But no, my concern is raw horsepower.

so that makes the attempt lame?
they also convinced capcom to go multi with DMC and have mistwalker, which might actually pay off with lost odyssey.
i don't see trying to get an exclusive in a genre that the japanese like as a lame attempt.

But again, are people buying a lot of 360s in Japan? Don't think so. Even with those games on the system, MS manages to sell a lot initially for a week and then drop back down.sweener2001 wrote:so that makes the attempt lame?

snkcube has a point though
bottom line
they aren't lookin so good in japan now, sales don't lie as far as business and they prolly are desperate for SOMETHING that will start to turn sales the other way
they do have mistwalker, but mistwalker alone isn't going to save them.
Seriously, what kind of asshole makes an old-school 2D emulator that requires a Core 2 to get full speed? >:(
holy cow, i had no idea that the 360 wasn't moving off shelves at all! in japan of all places, golly. imagine that, 360's not selling in a country where they prefer homegrown brands and get sick when playing fps's.
that's not the point. the point is calling the attempt lame. debate the point.

I swear to god, if I hear that FPS line one more fucking time, I'm going to reach out over the internet and violate the person who said it in surprisingly non-sexual yet far, far more horrendous ways.sweener2001 wrote:holy cow, i had no idea that the 360 wasn't moving off shelves at all! in japan of all places, golly. imagine that, 360's not selling in a country where they prefer homegrown brands and get sick when playing fps's.
