PS3's cannot read the old memory cards which is a big deal for some people.Gil_Hamilton wrote:Yes.Metatron wrote: Say, is PS3 backwards-compatrible with PSX too?
Even the PS2-less ones can run PS1 games.

Sure it can; you just need this.Nightcrawler wrote:PS3's cannot read the old memory cards which is a big deal for some people.Gil_Hamilton wrote:Yes.Metatron wrote: Say, is PS3 backwards-compatrible with PSX too?

Whether or not Sony is nickel-and-diming people is a different argument.
Why yes, my shift key *IS* broken.

so if i were to say crap like mgs and vagrant story, you'd be disagreeing? FF is too easy to mention, PE is quite liked, then there are the niche games like road rash and persona. RE also comes to mind, i mean, how many franchises did the psx spawn?
there definitely was a reason the psx outsold the n64.
EDIT: grammar

Yes. Even the 40 gig(AKA useless piece of shit) model plays 'em.Metatron wrote:Is this regardless of PS3 model?I.S.T. wrote:Many, many people as the PS1 had quite a few good games.randal wrote:Who'd want to go back to the PSX?
And the PS3 runs PS1 games as well as the PSTwo(Not to be confused with the PS2 original model.).
The PS3 has never really included any PS1 hardware(Well, many of the graphics functions of the PS1 were mapped into the GS chip for the PS2's BC.), and plays 90% of PS1 games just fine.
Doesn't play burned ones though.

Edit:
You're not kidding! The n64 is one of the most disappointing consoles ever released. After the great SNES, it had a hell of a job filling its' shoes, and failed miserably.there definitely was a reason the psx outsold the n64.
I don't know if you understood me. I'm saying I'm just waiting till later to buy my PS3, and by then hopefully PS2 software emulation on the PS3 will be completeMetatron wrote:PS2-style backwards compatibility isa Big Deal for me as my room is not that large, so yeah. Software compat will just be bad, no two ways about it no?Panzer88 wrote: @Metatron
don't worry, they'll eventually get backwards compatability worked out, be a cheap ass like me and wait till they are dirt cheap. My friend got an absolute steal right after thanksgiving though he got an 80 gig for $300, someone at the store seriously fucked up.

So really, what are you talking about? All of the FF games? All of the Crash games? Symphony of the Night, PE, MGS? That's a lot more than one game, and the list goes on...randal wrote:Only 1 comes to mind.
Maybe you're just confused. They're talking about the Playstation. The console beloved by millions. Hope that pointed you in the right direction.
If popularity really counted I'd be listening to bands like the Spice Girls.DancemasterGlenn wrote:So really, what are you talking about? All of the FF games? All of the Crash games? I don't think we should bring up sales to point out which had better games.sweener2001 wrote:so if i were to say crap like mgs and vagrant story, you'd be disagreeing? I think PSX had a lot of great games, and prolly more, better games.
I would not however say it's more because it sold more.
I know SO many jackasses out there that know nothing of gaming and have a PSX with tons of games. (this could be said of many consoles, I'm just saying, sales don't say it all)

Castlevania: SOTN. it's also worth owning a 360, PSP or PS3, if you wish.Gil_Hamilton wrote:You're an idiot, randal.
I've got a stack of about 30 PS1 games I consider "must-have" titles. And I'm missing at least as many.
I'd like to know what the "one" game that makes a PS1 worth having is.
And it damn well better NOT be Final Fantasy 7.

your logic blows my mind. WHY does any console outsell another? the GAMES.Panzer88 wrote:I don't think we should bring up sales to point out which had better games.sweener2001 wrote:so if i were to say crap like mgs and vagrant story, you'd be disagreeing? the fact that i used sales at the end of my statement is merely to support my argument about the GAMES. you decide to go off on one point, and you don't even execute that well.
did i say ANYWHERE that the mere fact that the psx outsold the n64 automatically meant it had a better library? NO. i first mentioned some of the more notable games that the system had, to counter the "only one game worth owning" crap, and then (i'm about to repeat myself) used the sales as a support. because good games sell systems.
sure, it's more complicated, but once again, i did NOT use the sales as my main point. so whatever point you're trying to make is moot.

the saturn version has a fair bit of slowdown, so it is not included.Gil_Hamilton wrote:That WOULD be one of my stack.I.S.T. wrote:Castlevania: SOTN. it's also worth owning a 360, psp or PS3, if you wish.Gil_Hamilton wrote:You're an idiot, randal.

So does the PS one. Pretty much if you use mist, it slows down.I.S.T. wrote:the saturn version has a fair bit of slowdown, so it is not included.Gil_Hamilton wrote:That WOULD be one of my stack.I.S.T. wrote:Castlevania: SOTN. it's also worth owning a 360, psp or PS3, if you wish.Gil_Hamilton wrote:You're an idiot, randal.

Saturn version may go a tad beyond "fair bit." I've never actually played it(but I'm building a comp RIGHT NOW that can handle Saturn emu!).
