What are the best gamepads available?
I'm looking to spend <$50. I'd like a few different options and fairly universal gamepads.

If you want a temporary solution, Wal-Mart is selling 10 dollar controller converters. It will take one PSX Dual-Shock/PS2 Dual-Shock 2, one X-Box controller and one Gamecube controller. It's also a USB hub.
The main problem is that for some reason, some apps do not detect the Platstation controller properly and set all the buttons to be axis y. I tried it with a PS1 and a PS2 dual-shock. Both gave me the same problem. Zsnes will detect it fine, BTW.
I did not test the GC's controller, because it generally sucks ass.

I wonder if Sony will make the Dualshock 3s compatible with PCs. Either through Bluetooth or USB. Because I would really like that. I prefer the analog stick locations on the Dualshock, and the XBox 360 d-pad is atrocious. The Dualshock d-pad isn't that much better. Clearly, Nintendo's d-pads are the best.
I think the reason I tend to prefer console gamepads is that they're (arguably) better-built than the average PC gamepad, and tend to be supported/sold longer than the average PC gamepad.
I would REALLY like to be able to use my Wii Classic Controller with my computer.

I LIKE the GBA controller. But it has a horrid d-pad.
The XBox 1 has an awesome d-pad. I hear Saturn pads do too, but I have no Saturn controllers.

You can. You just need a bluetooth adapter and GlovePIE.I would REALLY like to be able to use my Wii Classic Controller with my computer.

I'm a little untrustworthy of random homemade drivers. That's why I wanted an official Sony driver.snkcube wrote:http://news.filefront.com/how-to-use-a- ... r-on-a-pc/

Interesting. The last I read about GlovePIE, it was just to use with the Wii Remote. You can. You just need a bluetooth adapter and GlovePIE.
EDIT: GlovePIE is apparently compatible with the SIXAXIS, now, too.

If you want to use an origional controller with zsnes or snes9x you could retro fit an adapter to usb for snes or nes pads.
you can build this circuit yourself
or
you could buy a fully assemble pcb and solder your usb and snes/nes pad wires

Hardware means nothing if you don't have good software.

Seconded.Agozer wrote:Logitech Rumblepad 2. It's awesome.
I've used quite a few gamepads over the years and this one is my favorite for emulation, by far.
Only problem is, I'm still looking for a Nintendo64 solution.
I missed the boat on the N64 Adaptoids, and the cheap usb adapters I've gotten off of ebay don't work at all.

I can't speak for the current Logitech offerings, but their older models have left me dis-satisfied.Grahf wrote:Seconded.Agozer wrote:Logitech Rumblepad 2. It's awesome.

Currently, I use an XBox 1 S controller.
