Damn, I loved those games.
Almost impossible without a faq, but back in the old days before gamefaqs, when it was just me and my Nintendo, it was fun to feel like you were plowing through the labyrinthine depths of those games, with no walkthroughs, no tips, just trial and error.
Any other games like this for consoles that anyone can recommend?
I tried Deja Vu 2 (the Las Vegas bs), but it paled in comparison to the original.
...and despite popular opinion, I actually liked Shadowgate 64.
Any others?
Remember Shadowgate/Deja Vu/The Uninvited?? Any others??

Sword of Hope and Sword of Hope 2 on gameboy! But be aware that they've got a lot of RPG elements built-in, including random battles. I personally prefer SoH1, as it retains the feelings of quiet and solitude that the original Shadowgate had. They're both good games, but again, the RPG element can be kind of distracting. Similarly you might want to try out Tombs & Treasure on the NES; it retains an RPG element, but it's a much smaller one than SoH and SoH2 have.
You might want to try out Phantasy Star Adventure on the gamegear, as well as the Phantasy Star 2 text adventures MIJET's translated for the Genesis, but they're more plot focused than Shadowgate and its followups.
Oh, and also Princess Tomato in the Salad Kingdom. Yes.
Good to see another Shadowgate 64 fan! You might want to try out the Echo Night games - they're similar in form and function, but they have an added Clock Tower-ish survival horror mechanism. Run and hide from the invincible killers! But in first person instead. It's kind of neat!

Oh, Sword of Hope, my brother played that a lot back in the days, it had a bad and cheesy Swedish translation for some reason, I hear Shadowgate did too, (which is very unusual), but the game itself is good and unique for a GB game. It's not very lengthy for an RPG though (it can be finished in a few hours).
