Seriously, what kind of asshole makes an old-school 2D emulator that requires a Core 2 to get full speed? >:(
the saturn version was actually better, completely different music, ACTUAL 3D bonus stages (what a concept) and resampled graphics from the original art.I.S.T. wrote:You've got to be joking. It's a port of a genesis game that barely worked...Franky wrote:"Sonic 3D Blast" for the Sega Saturn will always remain the best Sonic (dare I day best game) ever.
But I'll have to play this when it comes out to yet again be sure on that.
still, can't stand the game

no, Sonic 3 & Knuckles still takes the cake for me.
I think that sidescrolling is a good move at this point (try to get back to what makes sonic sonic before departing away again, maybe they'll get it right) but it could also go down the crapper, I LOATHED Sonc and the Secret Rings. and I hope this isn't just a pretty rollercoaster ride, but actually have some interactivity.
only time will tell, I'm sure this was just a proof of concept and engine video at this point.
and then there is the inevitable, how crappy is the Wii and PS2 version going to look, and will they be able to take advantage of the engine really.

amen brother, ha ha, that reminds me of the old 32x commercials (as crappy as the system was) "it's going faster, faster! .... it's making a new video game system -- 32x"corronchilejano wrote:Hot cart on cart action.Panzer88 wrote:no, Sonic 3 & Knuckles still takes the cake for me.

Sonic heroes had quite awesome level designs and pretty good music.
Of course you'd die around 50 times per stage before going fast enough to enjoy what sonic is all about, and only with the 2 fast teams, but that's fine... I guess ? (I spent enough time memorizing stuff to pull a no death super hard run... ^^;)
SA2 had some good ideas, but was treading far from the go-fast-go-fun theme, as well.
Still, Cosmic Wall wins forever.
Although I will agree that S3+S&K still yields the best result.
Gil will probably whip me for not saying Sonic CD was better, but meh I say, meh. The mechasonic battle is the ONLY nice point in it :p

Sonic Rivals 'tried' to keep within the SA feel but failed with triple char crap...I.S.T. wrote:Sonic Adventure 1 was pretty awesome. It had the perfect balance of new characters and old, better than any Sonic game before or after it.
It's sad what happened to the series. If it had kept on the path SA1 had laid out for them, it would have regained all its' former glory...
I wont start on Sonic for 360
a true SA3 would be nice... mix in the old and new chars , and bring back some old enemies , and the a-life system (chaos) , and it might be worth playin

The only thing about this new Sonic is that it uses graphics that look more "realistic". Sonic is meant to be more "cartoony" in my eyes.
It's like trying to make pacman into 3D (which I believe they did at some point).
I don't understand though; the Wii has a processor clocked at around 700mhz. The Xbox 360 has a tri-core 3.2ghz cpu, and the ps3 uses 6 of it's eight 3.2ghz cores (well, probably maybe "cells" actually) for gaming.
They make game available for both 360/ps3, then they port them to the wii, which has similiar power compared to the original XBOX.
If only they'd do a remake of 3D Blast for the PS3/360 though...
That would be beyond awesome.

The PS2 is quite dated now (no new game being made either). I predict that the PS2 version won't be very good (they'll focus on 360/PS3 version, and just get the PS2 version "done").and then there is the inevitable, how crappy is the Wii and PS2 version going to look, and will they be able to take advantage of the engine really.

Yeah, but at least the old Sonic games didn't have gay characters like Big the Cat, Cream the Rabbit or Chaotix the Alligator...I mean, c'mon, seriously. Let's all hope Sega doesn't botch this Sonic game and maybe just put Eggman, Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and maybe Shadow in it. No one else.grinvader wrote: Weren't those only made of Sonic racing all by himself and a handful of robotnik bossfights ? >_>

One thing to love from PlayStations is their really long life, unlike the XBox. For some reason, I beleive next year we'll have an announcement of yet another XBox.
Back to Sonic, I think the new Sonic looks great. They're keeping it 3D but with fixed camera to guide you along the way, seems pretty intuitive.
