ZSNES + Xbox = True??

Post by Sky »

Hi guys :)

I don't know if I have put this in the correct section, but anyway, here it goes:

I saw a guy once playing SNES and NES games on his Xbox. I thought that it was a great idea. To actually play your favourite classics on the Xbox itself. But - if I am not misstaken, doing such a thing would quite possibly require modifying Xbox. And I know someone who could do that for me...
But the thing is; what is required?

What do I need to get to play the SNES(/MAME/PSX/Game Boy also if possible) games on my Xbox?

What are the pro's and con's of modifying the Xbox, IF required?

And everything else you guys think I should know about this, just let me know. I don't want to waste my money if it's not possible. Would love it though.

Thanks in advance. :)

You need to modify it to use emulators.

But don't worry, no soldering required.

Search "xbox softmod" on google.

Puts a custom dashboard etc, that you can run stuff from. I don't own an xzobx, and have never tried this, but I've heard and read about it. I'm not sure how to actually get stuff onto the xobx's harddrive though...

I know a friend who used to have a moded xbox with snes9x emulator on there. I'm not so sure about zsnes though. It would be kind of cool though to have zsnes on my nintendo ds, which is the only handheld I own right now.

*sigh*

It's been said many, many times. zsnes is not able to be ported to any system using a non-x86 cpu. the DS, basically being an upgraded GBA, does not qualify.

DS has snemul anyway. It may suck but it's about the best as you can get from the DS. A shame the developer abandoned it, though. It was making great progress.

You FTP the files to the Xbox. Using a dashboard, say, XBMC, is really easy to do. And yes, there is a version of ZSNES for the Xbox. It's just a bit outdated.

Is it still called Zsnex Box? Or does nit have new name now?
Hardware means nothing if you don't have good software.
Compare the success of SNES over Genisis

I've played the xbox version of zsnes, and it works great. Too bad they violated the GPL to do the port.

But being able to play SNES on a TV in 1080i is so worth it. 8) ZsnexBox is one of the nicer emulators on the Xbox.

And for those people that aren't HD fans I think there might filters to make it look like an SNES connected via RF to a TV in your moms basement.
