Maybe if you got an empty super nintendo cartridge. Somehow manipulated rom data from your computer and dumped it on the super nintendo cartridge using a somehow obscure super nintendo data drain device. So you could insert your nintendo pak into a real super nintendo. I know someone has done that with the Seiken Densetsu 3 rom and sold it to one of my online buddies. So I know doing that is possible somehow, but I haven't done it. And I'm really not sure how that is done.

No. The Super Nintendo games are designed to run on a COMPLETELY different hardware platform than a IBM-compatible PC.
It's like throwing someone that speaks spanish onto the klingon homeworld.
The emulator is an interpreter that translates spanish to klingon.
FAR less relevant, they're designed to be in total control of the hardware instead of nestled safely behind several abstraction layers and politely multitasking.
There's no such thing as empty cartridges or "data drain devices."

They took a working game, removed the ROMs, and soldered in EPROMs that they had previously programmed.I know someone has done that with the Seiken Densetsu 3 rom and sold it to one of my online buddies. So I know doing that is possible somehow, but I haven't done it. And I'm really not sure how that is done.

Re: emulate without emulation?
I reread this around 5 times. You're wondering if it's feasible to run games on a snes without emulators or computers ?bbidner wrote:is it possible to run roms directly from the game operatining system ie super nintendo insted of useing the computer emulator to emulate it ie runing it from just the system no emulator no operating system just game system as the system
What do you think it was made for, pancakes ? Mmmm pancakes.
And that's where it becomes completely meaningless. You want just the console and game without OS or computer, on a computer ?ie on computer
Advice: make shorter sentences and proofread your posts.
Now if I had to guess... a SNES-on-a-PCI-card thing might be what you're asking about ?
Depending how much latency there is on the PCI bus, it might not be completely impossible. But it would require some massive tech/programming skills.

Yeah, such things are said to exist. Here's a depiction of one, with a ROM device plugged in:bbidner wrote:is it possible to run roms directly from the game operatining system ie super nintendo insted of useing the computer emulator to emulate it ie runing it from just the system no emulator no operating system just game system as the system

Read up on emulation.

Re: emulate without emulation?
You need a copier to put the ROMs in for use on playing it on the SNES.bbidner wrote:is it possible to run roms directly from the game operatining system ie super nintendo insted of useing the computer emulator to emulate it ie runing it from just the system no emulator no operating system just game system as the system

There is no SNES operating system like there is for modern consoles.
Is it possible for you to not write a massive run on sentence? Thanks.

I think d4s made a primitive BIOS for snes, I think he called it "ULTRA SNES".Deathlike2 wrote:There is no SNES operating system like there is for modern consoles.
He showed a photo of the inards of his custom snes.... it looks like he used an EPROM of some kind to hold the code.
He refused to release schematics or the code.

And in the big list of signs it didn't really work, that's pretty high up there.
He didn't show a video or anything to prove that it actualy worked..

I once made a SNES out of an alarm clock, a soda can, toaster, and a bag of doritos. (they had to be that "Cool Ranch" kind for some reason). Once you got all the chips installed, they crumbled every fifteen minutes, so it wasn't very practical. I had detailed schematics and assembly instructions on my hard drive and backed-up off-site at the bank, but my house caught fire and the banks vault spontaneously turned into a wal-mart. Oh well.
I supose you though the opening at the top was some kind of double cartrige slot.... Play 2 games at once.... wow, and you wondering; why your games turned into a pile of grey fluid seeping out the bottom.

Actually, my custom-built SNES described previously didn't take SNES cartridges, it took a special game cart known as a "bread slice" to the less tech savvy. It's not very interactive, you just watch it darken. My favourite game has got to be twelve grain. Lots of social problems among the different grains. Of course, I wished I realized the Media was bread, since I had already melted 12 NES games, 5 SNES games, a plastic helicopter, and a condom (don't ask)
Oh, and it could take four "games" at once!
P.S: why is it that we have all this technology, and yet toaster manufacturers still have trouble making toasters that have precise controls? my toast either comes out to light or too dark, no matter where I set it. piece of crap.
