Has it been opened?declan wrote:I keep my consoles in my closet and only pull 'em out to use 'em.
My prize console is a brand new Platinum GameCube that has never even been powered on.... who knows, in 10 years time it could be worth a shiny penny.... I saw a brand new snes (on ebay) go for $600 a few months ago.
If you're holding it for collector's purposes, mint-in-sealed-box is the way to go. Opened-but-never-used is iffy.
And the Platinum 'Cube isn't exactly rare. They were throwing them around like popcorn, limited edition sticker or not. It basically replaced the purple 'Cube.
There's probably more platinum 'Cubes out there than there are SegaCDs, Virtual Boys, NeoGeo Pockets, Vectrexes, or even the legendary Atari 2600.
now, fi you had a Panasonic Q... then we'd be talking.

Yeah, silver is the "platinum" 'Cube.franpa wrote:I think I got a platinum cube, cost me 100$ brand new and is silver... or are gamecubes silver by default?
It was also the one packed in with the Metroid Prime bundles, and probably all the other bundles they did too.
Or black. More often black later on. I think Nintendo quietly retired purple so people would quit griping about how gay it looked.I.S.T. wrote:They're that weird shade of purple by default.

The platinum 'Cube was available by itself AND in bundles.franpa wrote:Oh yea, i forgot what the purple cube was looking like, but i remember now. I didnt get a game or anything with the cube... maybe it was 2nd hand >.>
The bundles were identified by a sleeve wrapped around the standard system box.
(I own a Prime bundle. Still have the box, because it looked sweet.)
